    Rear prop. shaft removal

Thanks for the tips guys. I have actually decided to not swap in the locked axels from my rolled '97. I will be posting it in the classifieds soon. I loved the lockers in my old cruiser but really never needed them and it looks like more work to swap than I am ready for. Sooo, What do you think...

    Rear prop. shaft removal

Hey guys, I am trying to remove the rear shaft from the diff. but am having a heck of a time and in danger of rounding the nuts. Fsm states to remove the nuts that are only torqued to 65 ft.lbs. Any tips or tricks I should know? I hit them with Pb Blaster after my failed attempt and was gonna...

What type of grease gun is everyone using?

I have the $20 cheapy from AutoZone? I hold the flexible hose on to the zerk and press the handle against frme, muffler or whatever is close. To open handle I hook it on drveline, control arm or whatever. I cant possibly be the only one that does this. Vince

    Retro-fit OEM locking axles

Ok guy's I rolled my 97 Landcruiser and it's totalled per State Farm. I bought it back and am not finding many replacements with the locking front and rear. Is it pretty straight forward to take the locking axles off my old rig and swap them onto a non locked rig? Is it pretty much plug and...

    Transmission/Transfer case problem?

This must be common as mine does this and I have read many other threads about this. The census seems to be just put it in 4low when reversing up an incline and dont worry about it. I have never experienced these symptoms while in 4low. Vince

    '97 80 Trans Prob/Tweaks?

Sorry for the late reply but must add my experience here guy's. I have a '97 that is smooth as butter. When I put it in reverse on an incline I experience this screeching noise as it slips out of reverse and bucks. I now put it in 4low anytime I am reversing on an incline and have not...

Hot drivers feet? This may be your fix.

Now that several people have done this I am wondering how many have noticed their steering column is off center. I cant believe that a new seal is gonna center it again and last very long. Maybe I need to somehow center it before I put the new seal in? Any insight is appreciated.

Hot drivers feet? This may be your fix.

My seal is shot also and would like to replace but the steering shaft rides quite a bit to drivers side. It is off-center by about 3/8 of an inch. Any suggestions? Thanks, Vince

    Reverse Under Load Issue

That is completely normal unfortunately. We all live with it. I have never had it happen in 4lo but I also have not TRIED to make it happen in 4lo either. If I think it's gonna happen in a particular situation (and it doesn't take much) then I drop it into 4lo and crawl right outta there. I...

Another testament to the toughness of an 80 when mine met a Buick yesterday.

J-BO, I'm truly sorry to hear about your loss. Just remember health is #1. I think one of the best parts of owning a cruiser such as yours is is actually doing the mods yourself which sounds like you have. The satisfaction of doing it yourself is a great feeling. Hopefully you can do it all over...

Please help, mountain trip tomorrow and I don't know what is going on here.

You need to clean that and watch it closely to figure how quickly or slowly it is leaking. Are you positive it was not doing this before the flush? If so, then it seems awfully coincidental to be leaking now. I wouldn't bother fighting the shop over this. It's not worth the time or money. Clean...
