    Look what I'm building...

Congrats! FYI Land Cruisers are the best "rocking" chairs a man can buy. What better excuse do you need to get out and play.....i mean rock the little one to sleep....lol. Here's my 5 week old girl Ella, waking from a long ride in her favorite rocking chair;p

    Steering arm stuck

Tie Rod End Sorry for the poor post previously. I was having trouble disconnecting the tie rod joint from the steering arm. I destroyed two adjustable type pullers and mangled the tie rod boot with the fork tool and still was unable to get it free. As luck would have it Auto Zone had a...

    Steering arm stuck

Is there a secret to getting the steering arm off? I've been through 2 end pullers (screws keep buckling) and I've tried using the 'fork' type puller with no results. The thing won't budge. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. Mike

    URGENT: Bearing direction??

Being the genius that I am, I failed to remember/take a picture of the wheel bearings prior to them falling out during knuckle tear down. Which way do they(inner and outer) go........smaller diameter facing out or in as your looking at the wheel? Edit: Like I said i'm a genius! I just...

    Help with brake line removal

I'll try the other side in the morning, but won't I run into the same problem with the line twisting? It looks more or less like the same type of connection.

    Help with brake line removal

I'm in the middle of my first birfield rebuild. All was going smoothly until I tried to remove the rubber brake line from the brake shield plate. The nut was easy to get turning but there is no swivel so as I loosen the nut the hose just keeps winding up so I cant loosen the nut anymore. Is...

    Oregon "Outback" road trip photos

Great pics Jon. Gotta love the gas pump story. Nothing like small town America to put a smile on your face. Looks like you guys had a great trip. Now I'm wishing we had gone inland some more this summer when we passed through Oregon on our way to Cali from Canada.

    wheel bearing advice

I'm assuming it's the bearings from reading the archives and some other recent post. Additionally, the truck was/is pulling to the right a little so I took it in for an alignment. They said my alignment was good but the right side bearing was a little loose. Ignoring what they said, presuming...

    wheel bearing advice

That setlles it. Since I only want to crack into this thing once and getting to the bearings sounds like i'm half way to the inner axel job then I reckon I'm headed for a complete rebuild. Thanks for helping me overcome this disease they call procrastination. It's a daily battle....lol.

    wheel bearing advice

My front bearings are causing some serious howling and most likely need replacing. The inner axel seal is shot as well. However, I'm out of time until spring to do a compete front end overhaul and would like to just tighten the bearings and hopefully quieten them down a bit at highway speeds...

    Cooling system pressure

I've been noticing the same thing with my 87 FJ60. I had a toyota pickup that had the same problem but it was due to a head gasket leak. I haven't checked my compression in a while but hopefully Landpimp is right and it's nothing to worry about. Anyone else experienced this before? Mike

    2 weeks, 6000 miles, 8 states and Canada later……

My original plan was to do Baja, but the spousal unit was a little scared of running into trouble with the federales, even though a friend and I had made it half way down the peninsula in a nissan sentra a couple of summers ago with no problems. We didn't get to see much on that trip because a...

    2 weeks, 6000 miles, 8 states and Canada later……

I based the 17mpg off of my GPS milage and not my odometer. Since I'm running slightly larger than stock tires (30x9.5) I'm guessing my milage is actually a little better than calculated. Again, I count myself lucky in the land of gas guzzlers. Enjoy it while it lasts eh?

    2 weeks, 6000 miles, 8 states and Canada later……

.....more pics I added some comments and more pics of the rig in the orginal post. Thanks for all of the positive feedback on the pictures. As good as they look, it was a hundred times more beautiful in person. As for the gas milage, well....I count myself very lucky, especially after...

2 weeks, 6000 miles, 8 states and Canada later…... After buying our first cruiser a couple of months ago, I performed the requisite fluid changes, tune up, etc in preparation for our inaugural Cruise America summer road trip. With no real destination in mind, the wife and I hit the road with...

    Driving the 60 cross-country

I would highly recommend the first 4 of magFJ60's list. In addition, depending on your time table, south eastern Utah and South western Colorado offer amazing scenery. 1. Canyonlands National Park, Utah 2. Arches National Park, Utah 3. Moab.....of course 4. Mesa Verde, CO 5. Durango...

The trip would have gone good if..........

I just changed the front & rear diff, t-case, and transmission oils last week after driving for about 40 miles or so to get all the oil nice and warm with no problems at all. I'm not sure when they had been changed last but all the bolts came free relatively easily. Assuming the bolt and...
