Halfway through a 150 mile trip on Christmas day in the 1993 fzj80 (242000 miles) I noticed a knock coming from the engine. Once home I changed the oil (it was pretty low) and the knock seemed to smooth out some but it is still there. Knock is constant but speeds up with acceleration. seems to...
This is a GREAT rig! This vehicle runs very well. Spring over axle, 35x12.5x15 Mickey Thompson tires on 10x15 Mickey Thompson Classic 2 wheels. 285,xxx miles. Runs strong. Body damage on driver side from wheeling incident (adds character!). I have a clean (brown) driver side front fender to go...
Had a little bit of fun over the weekend. not great pics but you get the idea! If only I had the $$$ to get new shocks I could have kept the tire on the rock!
I'm getting ready to put J springs on my rig (they are sitting in my garage waiting for me to have a free saturday to put them on:p) and couldn't wait so I put the new shoes on (MT MTZ 315/75R16) and took off all the running boards, mud flaps, and bug deflector.
Looks 100% better already! I...
I've been looking at buying a bike. I want something I can go on trips with and ride around town. I've never ridden before. I've been looking at Yamahas V-Star and Honda's Shadow. I cant afford a Harley. Needs to be able to seat wife comfortably as well. Needs good gas mileage and reliablility...
I have:
a stock rear bumper off a 88 fj62 - $75 (pickup only)
trailer hitch - $75 (pickup only)
trailer brake - $50 (would like to sell with hitch but not necessary)
I guess if you want it shipped you pay for shipping from 83705 (bumper and hitch are heavy)
I need to move my shock mounts ( and get some longer shocks). i hear the way to go is ford shock towers in the front and moving the upper mounts in the rear.
If anyone has done this can you post some pics please???:D
I am by no means mechanically savvy, but I'm trying to get there.
I've read alot and the consensus seems to be that 4.88s (with 35's) are the way to go. I was always under the assumption that beacuse 4.88's (4 teeth on one gear per 88 teeth on another) had a higher ratio difference that...
I bought my 80 about a month ago. Everything worked fine in the last week I have had
1) DS power window quit working ($300 for a new master switch)
2) cruise control works intermittantly (not really important, just makes me worry what else is going to go wrong) worked again after I turned it...
I just got a new (to me) 93. I am sick of having to hurry to get the key in the ignition so the alarm doesn't go off. I don't have a fob (didn't come with one). Is there a way to turn off the alarm or change the settings????
This is the alarm system. sorry about the poor cell phone pic.
Does anyone have pictures of the ground wire that is the main ground from engine to chassis? Mine came off a year ago and I would like to see placement pics.
I pulled the carpet out of the back section ( it was nasty)
but under it there is some tacky goo. anybody have any good ideas on how to get it off? I eventually want to rhino-line back there and don't think it will cure correctly with that stuff under it.
I finally got my FPR ordered and installed. After ruining one seal (this causes gas to puke out all over when you drive it:doh: ) I got it installed and it fixed my starting problem. Starts every time now!!!! If it wasn't for mud i would never have figured it out!well worth a silver star...
Last night I replaced my FPR. I was excited cause it only took about 30 min and seemed to solve my start problems. Well today I drove it and could smell gas strongly. when I popped the hood while it was running, gas was gushing out of the FPR. I didn't have time to look any closer than that such...
I stopped to look at an 80 yesterday cause I thought it was for sale. It wasnt but it was soooo bad!!! Does any one on here own the white 80 with a Corvette LS1 stuffed under the hood??? looked like custom rhino-lined bumper and sliders with 315/70/16s.
Nice ride.....
I did it. This weekend I bought a 93 fzj80 w/ factory lockers!!! I am greatly impressed.
Everything works on it (except blown door speakers) and it is in great shape!
217k miles.
The leather is a little worn but thats expected.
Lockers work well.
We got 15mpg on the way back from...
