All, need to get some parts around the brake load proportioning valve in the rear of my 80 and having trouble locating a parts diagram. Anyone have a link that I may utilize? As always, thanks in advance.
flint, thanks for correcting me, they are indeed Schrader valves, not reed valves; I'm an engineer so I should know better. I did buy a new manifold, it was only $150 from McGeorge. It does include new Schrader valves so after all I spent on redoing the A/C system it is a good investment.
Did an A/C system refresh including all major components, dryer of course, and one of the lines fused to the dryer. Lots of great threads made it straightforward, pulled vacuum and charged it up with freon and I had the coldest A/C ever on this truck. Unfortunately lost freon after a few days...
All, quick update on this repair. Got a Lares remanufactured unit from RockAuto and installed in truck, was relatively straightforward. So my son gets in LC and heads off to Nashville from NJ and I breath a sigh of relief that I have one less car and he is happy to be off to a new life...
Have a beat up bumper from a 1996 80 Land Cruiser. Someone backed into it and I straightened it with a sledge hammer to get me by until new TJM replacement came in. Can be yours for the firm price of $0; yup free to good home. If you are really magnanimous a bottle of chardonnay or a 12 pack...
All, what is total A/C compressor oil for a flushed and empty system with a new compressor? FSM says 40 cc each for evaporator and condenser, and another 10 cc for receiver/dryer so I get a total of 90 cc. I was surprised that there is not an additional amount for the compressor so checking in...
All, have very sloppy steering on my '96 LC and the adjustment nut is bottomed out. It is to the point where I do not even go on the highway unless I must. Rest of front end is tight. Read many posts regarding steering box replacement and am going to give a RockAuto unit a try. WTG seems...
Not sure what OTRAMM uses but I have a crank pull holder and 3/4” breaker bar with socket. Made taking off pulley a breeze. PM me if you want to borrow.
And I’ve got a locked 96 LC in Belle Mead NJ with just about any tool you need (mine was about as sorted as yours) if you require them. Audi guy too, 2005 allroad with manual and only US stratus blue import.
All- I am wrapping a general upgrade to my '96 LC and was planning on doing a 150 Amp Sequoia alternator upgrade. Lots of great information on the forum but there are a couple of details I need clarification on. I'm sure it has been covered somewhere but there are SOOOO many threads I can't...
Like many of us I bought seat heaters when I got my leather kit from Shane. Leather kit went on years ago with the heating elements but I put off the wiring until now. I have read every post on on the technical aspects that I can find but cannot determine how to wire my specific kit that I got...
2fpower and all others who commented, you indeed were correct. Interestingly, I had the distributer in the wrong place the last time I did a HG but checked it first when it wouldn't start and fixed it right away. This time I was "really careful" aligning the camshafts as described in the FSM...
All, just finished my second head gasket replacement on my '96 LC, first was nine years ago. My son drove the car while it was overheated for about 20 minutes and that was all she wrote. Car ran reasonably well but had oil in antifreeze and some water in the oil (Yes, I know, very bad. Did I...
Have a '97 LC and broke the spring clip that holds the two pins in place that in turn hold the brake pads in the caliper. I was told the spring clip is NLA and they sent me a different part that is considered an upgrade. It is a long strip of spring like metal with a double hole at each end...
Have 80 series seat bottom cushions and drivers side seat back cushion. Also have front headrest leather, both sides and grey replacement elastic for seat netting. Elastic is new, rest is used but in good condition. I bought new cushions but when I took them apart the old ones were in good...
