Care to share the part number for the 24v alternator?

Gorgeous Friday here in Texas. Time to get swappin’.

Something followed me home from the hospital…again.

Well fark. Not the same connectors. Time to find an EWD for the 61 and see if I can swap wires and plugs around.

At the very least I can get the original rebuilt and go from there.

Many thanks to @sved who sent the EWD diagram with wire colors. Should be able to wire the aftermarket alternator up ASAP…but I’m crunched for time this week.

I also dropped off the original alternator at the local alternator shop; still waiting for an estimate. Will see.

So I drop the alternator off at the local shop…

They call back the next day and say that everything tested fine.

I had some time this afternoon, so I went out and put everything back together.

I think I found the f$&@ing reason…

Buy cheap tools, get misleading information.

On the bright side, you have a spare alternator.

@ceylonfj40nut well, there is that.

Good to be driving her again on a beautiful fall morning.

Man, I have a new-looking front bumper in my shop that would look great on your truck. @Sea Knight probably wouldn't care if I passed it on. It's been in my shop for a while. LOL!

Mmmmm…I KNOW @Sea Knight doesn’t really want that back. Maybe I can pick it up this weekend when I retrieve the h55?

🤣

It’s been a hot minute. While I was getting the soft top conversion done on my 74, I entrusted my baby to @aljollano to do a complete rehab of the brakes. I went back to a 62 series master, a City Racer brake booster, Cruiser Outfitters loaded calipers, redid the knuckles, slapped on a new steering stabilizer, and put on new tire rod ends. The old girl is driving like a dream. Currently she is all fueled up for a weekend trip to Fredericksburg, Texas.

Yeah, that's one of my favorites trucks around here.

Actual tech time:

So it turns out that I’ve owned this truck for five years and just now noticed that the rearview mirror was not factory. It was held on by one mangy little M5x0.8 bolt.

Turns out that 70 series mirrors are a near perfect replacement fit. If you use the two standard mounting holes, the plastic cap hits the overhead console. Drill the holes a little farther north, and it bolts right up. Perfect.

Sometimes you can even see @aljollano behind you.

Nate is really taking his constant need for handholding farther and farther.

He’s also hogging all the cold air.

Man, a year goes by fast.

Need to feed the horses at the ranch and everything else is broken? 61 says ‘I’ll do it.’
