I think he is asking if its possible the rebuilders and low quaility parts makers are grinding off any manufacturer logo (including Aisin) and putting the 'aisin' sticker on and calling it Aisin.

Maybe?

No, 100% AISIN is putting those stickers on their pumps. We buy direct from AISIN. Some parts come with a cast logo, some come with a stamped logo, some come with a sticker logo, some come with TEQ or Toyota still on the part. All AISIN aka ASCO (their old name) legit.

I had been told some time ago that Aisin was the manufacturer of the pumps for Toyota, which had a Toyota or Teq mark cast into the aluminum, installed both on vehicles as well as packaged into Toyota-branded boxes and sold thru Toyota dealerships. But when Aisin began selling items under the Aisin name, the Toyota markings had to be removed. Likely this was due to any future warranty claims that could have been made against Toyota, as well as a different pricing structure, and so the corporate lawyers prevailed. So the markings were ground off before selling them. The story sounded plausible.

Complicating the matter are the various Asian and Southeast Asian copycat companies trying to pass off their wares as authentic
Toyota or Aisin manufactured parts--witness the $75 carburetor knockoffs and the cheap "Aisin" hubs with no lettering on the twist dials. The public is being purposely misled, but the knockoff companies claim innocence since they "ground-off" or omitted any corporate names or logos.

Buying from a reputable dealer--such as Cruiser Outfitters and others-- ensures you are buying an authentic part, and that any decal, marking, packaging is genuine as is the part in question. Because the quality and longevity of Toyota, and specifically Land Cruiser, vehicles and their replacement parts are valued, it's understandable that we enthusiasts don't want to be cheated or misled in any way. Probably the best defense remains: if the price seems unbelievably low, proceed with caution.

My 2 cents.

Hopefully you can still buy the whole light with the lens?

Yes, the 81750-60030/81750-60031 & 81760-60020/81760-60021 are still widely available. We've got 10+/ea and more en route. No signs of that one going anywhere at current.

69064-60021 (our part# LOCK60021) - OEM Ignition Lock Cylinder (W/O Column Lock) 9/72 - 10/84

She dead :(

Parts like this are hard for me to see die. From a business standpoint (TMS/TMC) I totally get it. However I remember being stoked to have the juice to have a few of those on the shelf 20 years ago. We've sold dozens and dozens of those over the years. Many were stoked to get a new ignition cylinder with a Toyota key.

Plus side I suppose, the remainder we have in stock are now worth more :D

MARION TOYOTA (618)-997-5692
ELMHURST TOYOTA (630)279-2160
BRUNSWICK TOYOTA (330)273-3300

Probably not a popular question, and I swear I am not trying to ruffle feathers... but is the purpose of this thread to show off all the rare neat stuff we found? Or is it a place to post things for sale?

That leather covered shift handle is pretty slick. Would definitely purchase one for a 4 speed, if they were available? @ToyotaMatt
