I know there will never be an end to a 60 series project (wouldn’t have it any other way), but today the last piece of the conversion puzzle was completed. Had some AC hoses made up, but the compressor clutch would not engage. We tested the...
All fixed. Removed and straightened bracket and bolt best I could, re-installed. Used a pry bar to pull belt tight, and tightened the clamping bolt. Installed the safety screw finger tight. One banana job . Thanks to all.
I have had AFI EFI for ~10 years on my FJ40 and really like it. No fancy screens, and it's a wee bit cold blooded (but I just drive through it). My MPGs dropped to 10 MPG, but I have a lot better power and tractability, and best of all, it starts...
Thanks for the followup - glad it was easier than you thought. There's a guy in Queens parting an LX470 - check Mud classifieds under body. Seller is @jer6point7 .
Maybe some signs of water damage near the window switch, the leather looks to be wrinkled here.
I think that's a flash (cube) reflection from the shiny wood surface onto the vinyl face of the door card.
No, this could be a real deal. Some don't know the market, and some don't know their trucks. But, don't do something rash like FedExing him money without seeing the truck, etc., as that is how people get burned. Use all your good discipline and...
Low inflation pressures and overheating (tires) is what kills tires. I would run C-range snow tires all day long at your weights, and enjoy the smoother ride.
Never jump on a truck with 'minimal review'. Even with significant review, there will be things to fix. Price almost seems 'too right', which is a concern.
Some folks weld metal back to those tire carrier hooks to add beef back to them that has worn away over the years. If you have a welder, it's not a big job. I suspect it's a 'weld-grind-testfit' - and repeat sequence, until it latches firmly.
Test fitting the dash trim. Stuff is loosely in place and is lining up decently. I think painting the metal part of the dash blue was the correct choice.
Stock rear axle from 1999 LX 470. 311K miles. Quiet, smooth, no leaks, no bearing sounds. Complete, including brake rotors and calipers. Stored indoors and pinion flange turned regularly. Oil is clean inside.

Doesn't seem like a Utah-based truck. Can you find anything less rusty locally? It's not a goner, but there's a lot of challenging rust to fix on this truck.
Let's see if I'm first on this..........replace the heater tees ;-)
Is that 'old lady gold', instead of 'old man gold'? (I'm not making fun of you - I have 3 gold vehicles). Congrats on a nice find!
They seem to be ok. I don't see slack, but when I decelerate from (say) 80 mph to 72 mph, I get a faint vibration. No vibration on acceleration. This may be due to a worn drive plate, so I can't indict the Cardone driveshafts without more...
Good morning. I wanted to report back that I finally passed smog! One of the members here recommended I go see Luke at Auto Precision in Vista. Luke is master magician! My carburetor was completely shot and needed a complete rebuild. Along with...
Thanks everyone. I went to the tag office yesterday and the VIN is indeed clear, so I got a clean title on it (and apparently a pretty good deal). We have ad valorem tax in GA where they tax you at purchase based on the value of the vehicle. He...
grab some 180 grit emery cloth, rip off a two or three foot section of it and go to town on that spindle. I think id be drilling and installing a Zerk fitting in that carrier for some grease.
