    Front End Clunk???

Tie rod end? Have you checked the ball joints? I just went through this with my beloved 91 Lexus 400, and the sound was decidedly clunky. It turned out the upper ball joint and control arm are one piece. $750 a pair. Owee. But that's another tale.

    One more question (80 v. 60)

yee-haw Oh hell, I know that.. I'm having fun my own self. The responses have (for the most part) been making me laugh my ass off. ESPECIALLY the teddy bear picture. Please don't hate me because I'm a smart-mouthed sacrastic SOB. Hate me because I still drive a Cummins. And a 91 Lexus 400...

    One more question (80 v. 60)

Boy, you make one comment.... I guess a head gasket design that tends to blow is top-shelf. Ferrari should study it. My Momma's Ford Escort did the same thing. You boys are so cute when you're offended it just makes me all warm inside. (Notice I didn't say "piss-poor"). Your pal, Rev...

    Turbo leaking oil

Turbo idle Idle down time is most important. Hot shuts are the number one cause of turbo failure. Plus, a leak like that on a diesel can cause a run-away (scary). Willie

JPR? Do you have contact information for JPR? Thanks, W

    4Runner engine swap

I have a 1993 4Runner and it looks like the engine is just plain NFG. It's the 3.0. Wondering a couple things: 1) What is the best, cleanest swap. Will the 3.4 just slide in? Are there others to consider? 2) Who is a good source for plug-and-play Toyota engines? I think the term is...

Va Elkton VA, now. Near Harrisonburg. Moved here about a year and a half ago after a lifetime in the swamp country -- the land of my people. You're in WestByGod? Whar?

OK, now you have me laughing! I'm from Virginia (BY GOD) and we're still sore about the Civil War. Cheers, Rev. Coyote

Another 80 goes flareless and Rhino Lined..

Rhino treatment Hey, I was wondering - do you need to do any sort of special preparation before treating the outside of a vehicle with bedliner? On your inspiration, I plan to do this to a wreck of a 93 4Runner I'm restoring. Also (being nosey) do you mind sharing how much the treatment cost...

    One more question (80 v. 60)

What the hell... I just found out a friend died, so the following comment may have a little fire: If you take offense to a judgement on an engine design, then take the cheap-ass shot of calling me an uniformed loudmouth, perhaps you need to look inward and find out why you're so touchy over...

Just an observation about this forum... ...there are some edgy attitudes. I don't get it.

    Question about HDJ81s and towing

wheelbase Well, not as short as some (Just so we're clear. God knows I don't want to offend anyone on the design team again...), but I use the control device on a Dodge Ram 2500 pickup with a 6' bed. Not truly "short," but there was a huge difference with and without the control bar. You'll...

    Question about HDJ81s and towing

Use sway control w/short wheelbase That tent trailer should be no problem. However, get a sway control device since you're towing with short wheelbase. I used one (Husky brand) with my 4,000 pound camper and Dodge, and it makes a world of difference. Racked up over 5,000 miles with the thing...

    Lets play identify the part

It goes to a huka. Just warm the engine up and take a drag off the tube, you'll be amazed.

    One more question (80 v. 60)

Tell me something -- if Toyota knows about the orignal HG being of poor material, then why don't they issue a recall like they did for the 3.0 v-6s that had a similar issue? I read the TSBs and recalls for he 80 series and there's nothing about the HG -- but to read the MANY posts on here...
