Marlin makes a top shift conversion kit. That's what I did. It is 150 bucks though.

I just did the same thing, same year pickup, only thing I removed was the drivers shock lower part and the studs on the axle housing LOL. The studs are gnurled and you have to drive them out, they say to use a brass drift I used a horseshoo stake. I took the hub apart then put the tire back on...
