couldn't hurt. mostly I'd just run the garden hose in the top of the radiator and out your drain hole, then reverse it for a while.

I'm currently battling the same problem. I chose the route of using some CLR to soak up in that area. I also use a curved pick to get up inside. I liked the doubled up wire in a drill that another member suggested.
