Yesterday I had the same problem. Passenger side shaft would not make the final 4 inches. Looked inside the housing and and i could see the splines were not centered, preventing the shaft from going any further. Used the broomstick or rake handle in my case to move the splines up and recenter...
So, the 1st shop I contacted about doing the bushing job quoted $250 per hour. They also could not believe I would remove the control arms myself and just let them do the press work.
Harbor freight has the 20 ton press on sale for $199 through the end of July. Decided to go that route.
But 1st...
Thanks for the imput guys. I'll find a shop with a press instead of buying the 12 ton press from harbor freight. Only $169 but the wife would hang me if I got another use once and store tool.
Hey,
I have been experiencing major cupping or scalloping on my rear tires. Thought it was a shock issue. Replaced the rear shocks and took a look at the bushings in the lower conrtol arm. They are shot.
Before I dive into replacing these buggers, I thought there may be some heplful tips...
I use a cover to protect my synthetic line from UV damage. But I remove it on longer road trips to increase airflow into the radiator. My cover blocks a big chunk of the grill.
This is to funny. I changed my bulb a few months back and didn't work. Assumed it was a bad connection because the bulb was new.
Just started up the rig and turned on the lights. Yep it works as advertised. And checked the ashtray light, that works also.
Never noticed in 14 years of...
I have had the same issue for years. The double tap on the drivers door lock no longer works on the passenger or rear doors. And no sound from the rears indicating it is not the motors. Unlocking the passenger door does unlock the driver and rear doors.
Does anyone know the part number of D 22...
Thanks for the feedback guys
After doing some more research I have ordered the Delta control arms with new bushings. Going to stick with the J springs for now to save some $. Will upgrade the springs later.
Going to go back to the original nitrocharger OME shocks for simplicity.
Been running the J springs for over 15 years with the L shocks and then 2 sets of Fox 2.0s. That combo works great in the rear but the front setup is trashed. Rear tires are OK but the fronts are trashed. The Fox 2.0s has caused major cupping or scalloping. They can't take the heat of washboard...
No they worked for years. Finished a long road trip and stopped working when we got home.
On a trail in Idaho, I noticed the low beams flickering over bumps. Whick make me think it is more mechanical than electrical. Thus a switch failure.
Guys and Gals,
Having an issue with my low beams. 96 with depo headlights and the rally lights wiring harness. Turn on the low beams and nothing works but the high beams do work. Checked all the fuses and they are fine.
The rally lights harness has 2 inline fuses. Pulled out the multimeter...

Hey,
Does anyone have experience with this new roof rack company I found called Uptop Overland? A random instagram add just magically appeared.
See link: Toyota LC80
They make a 80 series rack as well as a ton of other Toyota trucks and 4runners.
I was keeping my eye on Bowfin with the sweet...
