Winch cable refresh. This 8274 was rebuilt with an increased HP motor and Albright contactor but the cable was old, perhaps original to the winch. Maybe still ok use, maybe not. I did not want to have that uncertainty when using the winch...
Ok, quoting myself here. Just did an oil change & decided to switch back to Mobil one 15w-50; ( I’ve used it in the past, not sure why I switched to Rotella which is also a great oil for our 2f’s…but Mobil One it is!)
On another forum someone...
Posting up a link to the DropBox folder of my photo selections from this year.
A smattering of pics from CruiseHer, the group photo, a couple runs I led and a makeup run up Red Mountain and back.
If you want a particular photo, DO NOT drag it out...
Speaking of wreaking stuff
Like every one I have been super busy.
I have not look at the cruiser sense I got home. Well I pulled out of the shop to use the wince and things did not look right.
The first day of SAS to facilitate a...
Forgot about this… I put my 13 year old behind the wheel for the first time earlier this week. She putzed around an empty parking lot at night for 5 minutes. @POTATO LAUNCHER recommendation of putting first time drivers in low range gearing was...
Solid Axle Summit 9: big success. New motor performed flawlessly. My only minor quibble is that with the already lower vacuum and high altitude cutting the vacuum even further, the brakes were a bit soft at times. Not dangerously so, but just a...
Here’s the jerry can basket I booger welded together and painted in 90 minutes the other night:
I used cutoff pieces of chain for hook loops on the side because I was working fast and that’s what I had.
Gamiviti G-Brackets to provide attachment...
I did not check wheel weights or brakes or any of that last night …
Instead I welded together a jerry can carrier for the roof rack. I’ll be visiting @nakman tonight to get some special Gamiviti mounting hardware to attach it. I got my Gamiviti...
Fixed.
Problem:
I bought an analog voltmeter from a nearby Napa for $25 and it showed 2V at the bulb socket. Chased it upstream until I had 12V. Completely worth the $25.
Cause:
That’s daylight through the real wheel well.
Solution:
Depin...
There was when I got the truck a few years ago. That junk is always the first to go, and while I was in there I took a good look at the wires. All seemed ok.
Called the Napa by my house and they have a cheap analog voltmeter in stock. About to...
I’ll pull my harness, there might be pictures of my work available, a major problem now is that although they were labeled with the original color code, telling you what the colors of the wires are might be difficult because nearly everything in...
Man, I was going to say grounds or the fusible link being the culprit ... but you already bought my FLRK kit. Thanks for that by the way. I'm a fellow FJ60 daily driver so I feel for you. Gotta keep the truck in service and there isn't the luxury...
I always go spare to LF... I figure the front is the hardest on tires, where they wear the most.. so make the guy who just got off break go up and do some work. Then 5 rotations later he comes of the RR and can go on break again. probably...
A set of tires will last me about 2 years and for last 4 sets I've bought the same type and size. What I do is start with a set of 5 and rotate all 5 during a tire rotation. When it's time for a new set only buy 4 but save the best of the old...
@cruisermatt I should add, Our biggest restriction is having a speed rated tire. TOYO Tires sent me the ones we are running rated at 118 MPH so we are basically limited to that speed. Not that I think we will come close to that LOL We will pass...
We are entered in the 150 MPH Club. 2 reasons One - The 45 has the Safety gear ( Rollbar, lap belts, window nets, and so much more we are allowed to enter as a 150 MPH Club Truck/Car ) Two by doing this we get to run on the 3 1/2 mile course. Are...
4 inch aluminum cold air intake for the Bonneville 45. I have been accused of going over the top on a lot of things on this build since day one. All I can say is " You Bet " When we get to the Salt and pop the hood I expect everything from That's...
Thank you @rockcod and Matt60 for all the help today. We are so close to driving the 45. Fuel cell is locked down, Tony got the new front shock mounts welded in. Bed cover it locked in. What a Great day
I want to Thank @cruiseroutfit for posting this camping map. I have a lot of messages asking what we need or what to bring. Honestly this is all new to all of us. This has been a big undertaking. So much on the 45 has been rebuilt, re designed...
