unbolt the drive shafts and check the uni's when theyre not attached to the flanges, its the best way to determine the needle bearings are not shot / binding which can be hidden when bolted in place

With an AWD truck if you loose traction at 1 wheel you loose drive to all wheels. With the VC in there, if you loose traction at 1 wheel the VC will transfer some drive to the axle that has traction in hopes of helping to drive out. I'd keep it.

Fyi. I bought an AC Delco and the plunger gear would not retract and made a grinding/screeching sound(fly wheel). Replaced it with Denso $164 and all is good.

Replaced the starter with one I had in a parts box. Replaced the negative terminal with new crimped ends and block. Fingers crossed while knocking on wood that this fixes my multi-key-turn odd starting issue.
