Yes, in Chicago, definitely woolwax every fall, even (especially!!!) if it's already got some surface rust. Your frame isn't going to rust out, but AHC has lots of little hoses and fittings that rust can kill and they can be hard to diagnose and...

Within 10 minutes of posting this thread earlier today, I hit the road and drove 3.5 hours to purchase my new (to me) 2008 LX 570 :wootwoot: 132k miles and got a great deal at $19k even. Reading all of your replies now is reassuring me I made...

Ok, now for the true conclusion. If you have an LX 570 and are unhappy with the ride, I would very strongly recommend changing to 17-18” wheels. I swapped to 200 series takeoffs and Michelin defender ltx m/s 2 in the oem size for the wheels...

Heckraiser replied to the thread 200 Series Portal Axles.
I would think it would be a priority for most people, seeing as everybody loves kdss and (to a lesser extent) AHC. But I can't even imagine the numbers--seems as much as we drool over portals, only very few would actually put up the money to...

Heckraiser replied to the thread LC/LX Undercoating Rust Proof.
If you're planning on doing the suspension lift soon, then lift first, then undercoat. The coatings will make the job messier.

What he said ^ When the bushings are twisted (i.e. suspension dangling on a lift) they look a lot worse than they actually are. Look under with a flashlight at ride height and they probably look fine. Also, when your bushings are actually...

Most likely the truck is on a 2-post lift which means the front suspension is dropped out, which twists the bushings and makes all of that look a lot worse than it does at normal ride height. Those are probably not cracked all the way through...

First few days into the roadtrip to Alaska with my dad. So far camped in Jackson, Big Sky, Whitefish, Radiant BC, and today went through Banff and Jasper. So far so good!

Two thoughts here: 1) I have regretted every land cruiser I've ever sold (and there's been a lot of them) 2) I went straight from 80 to 200 and it was a tough adjustment. Huge jump in power and refinement, big loss of ground clearance off-road...

I built a 1/2 side sleep platform. 25" wide. 42" long. The front legs are an inch and a half longer than the rear legs to fill in the drop space upfront and be level. Total height is 11.5" throw an exped mattress in as needed. Decent amount of...

Long time lurker, first time poster... Finally got my hands on a 2008 JDM LC200 (with a 4.7L V8 (2UZ-FE) engine, cloth interior, no sunroof, no KDSS, just gen1 crawl control) with 51K kms! ~4 months after winning the auction, it finally got...

Spent the weekend playing offroad taxi carting half my friends up and down the mountain to our campsite. Everyone in my group used to own an offroad vehicle at some point, but now only a few do. Glad we got up there though, I was afraid I'd let...

I changed the oil in my differentials this weekend after the 500 mile (800km) break-in period. Fluid looked great and nothing on the magnets so really happy with the install so far. They've been really quiet too. Revolution 4.88's. Filled...

Also FYI, if you've got pulsing in the brakes, it's not always a warped rotor (or rotor in need of re-surfacing). More often it's deposits of pad material from somebody abusing the brakes (riding the brakes down a mountain pass and then coming...
