Bonus pic of the truck out n about in the wild.
Drove it about 110km total today. Was very well mannered on the highways, cruising no issue at 110km/h (70mph). As soon as there was a hill I would have to throw it into 4th and pull hahaha.
What...
AC is charged. Wipers now work again and I can throw the linkage back in tomorrow.
We’re almost ready to put carpet back into it and daily it.
40* vent temps in 70* weather tonight. We had to charge it again with r134. I was ready to put r12...
It doesn't hurt to smear some automotive seam sealer over the weld joints after priming. That will seal up any pinholes and extend the life of the repair.
I’m a big fan of this new kit available for folks who want to keep a classic look to their 6x trucks.
Rides well, simple system, a good mix of new OEM parts and solid Japanese aftermarket suppliers.
Great parts contribution by @cruiseroutfit. 👍
Wow, long time no post - almost two years. So much has happened and I should revive this thread. Still daily driving Matilda and she's still taking me everywhere I need to go. I'll post a list of stuff below with more detailed posts coming soon...
Ah I would have bought a full carpet but I pulled the trigger too soon in my parts buying excitement of the Rock Auto cargo area carpet (ACC Nylon) one. It fits perfectly and will cover all the bad spots of the rear cargo area OEM carpet and...
Awesome work. That carpet, however, does not deserve to go back into your truck. Get new carpet. Not that expensive and you will forever be thankful for installing new. @dnp sells a perfect-fit carpet in your OEM colour. Easy install too.
Put some new belts on yesterday.
Went to fire up the 3B for the first time since replacing all the gaskets and we noticed a big spark come from the front of the engine once it fired up. After some investigation we found that I had installed...
Good news.
49tire got the AC charged and there are no leaks!
Bad news.
The AC amplifier is toast. Rob seems to think this may have been the reason I cooked the compressors. It never let them cycle.
AC is super cold when you jump the...
Mine have been on for a year and have settled very little. Also removed one leaf, front and back, from each spring (bought the HJ61-7L and HJ61-6L). Running with Bilstein B6 4600 shocks and absolutely love the ride.
My lift will be going on this week. Just waiting on some 4 degree shims & rear spring pin bushings from @cruiseroutfit to arrive.
I got the kit from @crikeymike.
Great transaction and fast shipping!
Figured I'd go with him since he's in the...
Lots to do before twiddling the carb screws:
Put a vac gauge on the 3x nipple coming off the intake manifold (between the carb and power steering pump). In Texas you should see 20-22inHg. If not start hunting down vacuum leaks. Replacing every...
Just wanted to come in and introduce myself to the group. I just picked up my first FJ60 ('85) about 2 weeks ago and already loving this thing. My wife has been trying to convince me to buy a bronco for years... but that's something that I have...
Looks like a good one. Now comes the fun part — learning how these things work and how to fix them yourself. Lots of people here to help with that. Fixing and maintaining one is probably even more enjoyable than driving one.
End of an era and kinda sad to see 'er go — this truck and a lot of the work you did was my source for inspiration, hope and part numbers. Hope it goes well over reserve. Best of luck.
Pete,
Pete is the painter. He's been around here for 30-40 years as a tech and painter. Great work. He uses a Sata for base and Iwata for clear. Not too bad for old school shop painting with a wet floor and no booth. Beats some of the best booth...
