Like many of you I've fought with installing a rear tank. It came down to how often I needed the extra fuel vs. the cost of doing the install and trouble. I decided not to go the extra tank but be able to carry the extra fuel when needed. This was my solution.
If you think your driver bit is slipping back in the screw slots, add a dab of valve grinding compound into the slots. The abrasive of the valve grinding compounds adds some extra bite which just might do the trick.
Looking at body mount kits it appears they were the same from '58 to '78. Then apparently changes were made and stayed the same from '79 to '84. Maybe someone else can fill in more details and what the changes were.

I contacted Aero Tank back on the 24th. I got a reply from James "Jake" Selders who said he would send me a copy on Monday. As of today I've not received the install instructions and their web site doesn't seem to provide them as well.
If you are looking for an all original FJ-40 then take the refund and continue looking. If you are just looking for a driver with a certain look or options and this meets you desire then keep it and take the discount. Just because it isn't all original doesn't make it a bad vehicle to own...
It might help to know exactly which LUK clutch you installed. They make several kits and support Corvettes with LS7's that produce 505 HP. It might also help if you have any pictures of how the center section failed.
I went to the web site and it was a little confusing. It says the tank is for a Toyota but the category is Ford. It would be nice if there is more detailed information on the site.
