I took a new role at work, instead of driving 100 miles a day for 10 years, I now drive about 5 miles a week. I promised the wife I'd get a "new car" when I hit 500,000 miles. At this rate that will be in about 300 years.
I guess this depends on how long you plan to keep it. If you're like some of us and there is no end in sight, 16's are going to be more and more limiting with tire choices. But worse, it's also very limiting on wheel choices.
My advice would...
I think the question for me is why? What is the use case for an LX700 on portals? Most side by sides will run circles around a LX700 on portals for around the same cost as the portal boxes. And you could just use the LX to tow it to the trailhead...
What's to measure? Pull the axle, stick in the largest snap ring that'll fit and go about your life. If it's a couple of thousandths too thin, it's not going to matter to anyone or anything.
Bumping to confirm in my 02 just replacing the charcoal canister with new OEM, recent TB so new coolant, new radiator, new thermostat, new fuel filter did not prevent over pressure and boiling on recent trip to Alpine Loop. I opened the gas cap...
A Carfax report is now $45 so there is a Robin Hood element to the black market.
PS - I now want the seller to run the Carfax report, at their expense. People who won't do it are usually hiding something. If the car is clean it's dumb not to...
There probably are other ways but this was pretty quick. I didn't drain the block, just the radiator, put it right back in, parked on a hill, burped the air bubbles until they were out then back in business. Vacuuming the AC system, trying to...
Our axles have a boat load of grease inside of them. Hard to put any back in while still intact. I agree with others, put a clamp on it (don't over tighten it though) and I wouldn't give it another thought.
I haven’t gone through all 36 pages of this thread but I’d throw out there the front differential bushings. I had some clunks when shifting into drive, I would also hear it when coasting and then applying throttle. Replaced two of three and it...
Park on a hill with the radiator at the highest point, squeeze the upper radiator hose several times with a funnel holding a liquid level in it just above the top of the radiator, while you are idling and all heaters set to max heat and blower on...
