Gas tank building excessive pressure & fuel smell. Dangerous for sure! Why does this happen?

Bumping to confirm in my 02 just replacing the charcoal canister with new OEM, recent TB so new coolant, new radiator, new thermostat, new fuel filter did not prevent over pressure and boiling on recent trip to Alpine Loop. I opened the gas cap at the Animas ghost town and it eventually boiled...

Don't be like me (CarFax is probably worth it)

Sucks to over pay but you likely got a great vehicle and miles dont matter much, as I'm just hitting 415k.

    A/C Condenser Installation Tips

There probably are other ways but this was pretty quick. I didn't drain the block, just the radiator, put it right back in, parked on a hill, burped the air bubbles until they were out then back in business. Vacuuming the AC system, trying to estimate the right amount of oil and recharging the...

2000 LC small CV axle leak

Our axles have a boat load of grease inside of them. Hard to put any back in while still intact. I agree with others, put a clamp on it (don't over tighten it though) and I wouldn't give it another thought.

    The OFFICIAL clunk/thunk driveshaft thread

To be fair, some of threw every part imaginable at it and it did work. I haven't had clunk in years now.

    A/C Condenser Installation Tips

Easiest way for me was to remove the radiator.

    Coolant Refill After Alternator Install

Park on a hill with the radiator at the highest point, squeeze the upper radiator hose several times with a funnel holding a liquid level in it just above the top of the radiator, while you are idling and all heaters set to max heat and blower on high. I've never had issues getting all the air...

Front end opinions and direction help

Re indexing is free and easy. If you're just trying to get 1/2" of so, that will probably do the job. I got much beefier torsion bars and front end stiffness went way up, not sure it was worth it.

Not disputing the basic dynamics, just not convinced of the measurable difference for most people/scenarios.

What mods do you regret on your 100 series?

I tried every way possible to justify the RTT, didn't make sense for me. Went with a gazelle, love it. A two room palace that pops up in just over a minute? Yes please.

    Tire Choice Help

If you do end up entertaining 17" wheels and become convinced that a few lbs in unsprung weight aren't going to change much for you, I can highly recommend the Icon Recon Pros. The little bolts that push up against the bead add some insurance and reassurance on that trail that encouraged me to...

    Tire Choice Help

Ride quality, sure. I'm one of them, though I will say with my Falken Wildpeak RT/01s, which are C rated, it took airing down and flexing the sidewalls for a week for them to "soften" up and feel substantially better than the E rated ridge grapplers they replaced. Acceleration / braking...

    Tire Choice Help

Unsprung weight = tires, wheels, hubs, brake pads and calipers + Partially sprung = all suspension arms, half shafts, shocks Wheels are only a portion of our total unsprung weight, which is substantial if you've ever changed the lower control arms. Then only an even smaller portion of our...

What mods do you regret on your 100 series?

I regret posting this bc... The customization I have is truly unbeatable. I can mount anything anywhere and can change the position of everything with basic hardware. I appreciate my homemade solution more after a recent trip to the San Juan mountains. Even was able to mount my new star link...
