Not surehow to "follow" but I'll look for updates. Once you make it up here (Alaska) keep me in mind if you have trouble or need anything. Valdez is a cool little city, a little out of the way, but worth checking out if you have time.
Good luck...
I left sugarland under some heavy rain most of the way to Abilene.

With the new temp sender in the new waterpump and not leaking I could finish putting in the new radiator and pressure test the system. New rebuilt power steering pump and high pressure hose too.
New watertemp gauge, from Autometer. Has a smaller sweep than the old one, which I like. I don't really need a gauge that goes to 280, I'll probably stop if it hits 240.
Plumbed it into the waterpump so I can compare and contrast it with the...
I'll be driving this down to the States in July. I'm giving it to my father and we will be making the trip together in the FJ40 all the way down to South Dakota from Fairbanks, Alaska.
I've been daily driving the FJ40 to find any last minute...
Whilst pulling the manifolds on and off a few times I managed to strip out one of my studs. I made a new one from a spare bolt I had lying around and later realized my local hardware store stocks metric manifold studs. Oh well. Only spent 30 mins...
One of my exhaust gaskets blew out and I had to dig into that. While I was in there fixing that, I noticed the PO's fix to the seal between the intake and exhaust manifolds had also failed and so I ended up installing a new block off plate as...
How are you hood hinges gaskets?
Could be water intrusion past the hinge where it bolts into cowl. I didn't know that was a thing until i threw some cork under the hinge... and water dripping under dash into pedals became a problem.
The biggest takeaway I have, it would have been nice to have more time to finish some of the smaller details. That being said, I'm glad I made the decisions that I did and moved back out west.
It would have been better to shoot the paint on...
So much fiberglass work, sanding and painting! Blouie has a repainted top (minus gun rack drilled through the roof!)… still some interior-drip rail rust work, seam sealer and headliner…🤞
Needed more Fluid Film, run to my FLAPS, saw the new Blaster competition next to it on the shelf. Been meaning to try it, will perform some very unscientific tests later today.
Hey folks, jumping into this from where I used to live in the 80 series world. I sold the 40th anniversary and made it almost a whole year without a cruiser. I guess my T4R just wasn't giving me enough misery. So, here's my just acquired '72 55...
This was mine, before I felt the need to actually have the body attached to the frame....
For those that don't know, Truckee is my home town by lake Tahoe.
There is a very popular bumper sticker that is "keep Tahoe blue" that has lots of...
