Had some free time today and got to clean some more old wiring.
I installed this split fuse box a few years ago to have a better access to ACC ON power. It is connected via a 120amp relay.
I printed a mounting plate and got it rewired

Took the family camping a few weeks ago. First camping trip for our 7 month old boy. He loved it, camped for 2 nights and the only meltdown was me packing up to go home lol 😂
I hate it when the pull crap like this... I know the part I need, please just sell it to me. I had a friend who used to deal with stubborn parts counter guys with "brown":
He'd give them a part number...
Parts guy: "What vehicle is this for,"...
Well,
Im not sure who is keeping tabs, but once again, I was just being dumb.
We were all right from the beginning!
R/Y for ground and R/W(blue in my case with an LX) on 86 and 30 works.
I ended up having bad t-taps 🙃🙃
Changed them up and mot it...
You are a god! Thank you! I’ve been to three dealerships here in San Diego and none have been able to help. Last dealer was telling me that my vin doesn’t even show I have the shock plates. Thanks again for being such a resource to our community!
Pretty sure we’ve known about this now for about 20 years if not more if you include the pounding the Ozzie’s have been giving the 80 series since 1990.
My last trip to Fordyce, this happened as well. it lasted 8 yrs playing in the rocks, 3 Rubicon Trip, 2 Moab trips, 2 Fordyce trip and many many others in between....
Also, depends on which side you are working on.
R-W for Right high beam headlight
R-L for Left high beam headlight
I am actually using R-L for power for the coil as my relay is on that side.
It doesn't matter. Either can be used for ground and the other for power.
According to my EWD, R-Y is after the high beam lights, and should have continuity (near or at 0 Ohms) to ground with the high beam lights on.
R-Y is what you should be...
If it is big, heavy or fragile, I order locally but I generally wait for a nationwide Toyota parts sale if it is expensive. The best example of this is when I bought a rear axle housing.
If it is anything else, I order from Impex, PartSouq or...
Crappy pic but got the wiring done last night.
Those are just with the running lights.
I never had or seen in person any high end aux lights but I cant imagine needing more than what those HF put out, those things are BRIGHT!
Here's a previous thread discussing the topic of a stuck sunroof:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/stuck-sunroof-1997-fzj80-is-there-a-manual-bypass.1288939/
The sunroof is a known leak source, could have plugged drain holes in the pan that collects the water so when you made a hard turn the water sloshed over the edge of the pan.
A quick fix (before the next rain) is to put tape over the sunroof...
Went to HF last night and got my new lighs
Got started on the harness. A bit overkill but all I had in the proper colors was 12awg. Hopefully I can finish and test it out tonight
Maybe tomorrow Ill go back to the high beam signal battle
There is a large ground wire that is integrated in the engine harness that bolts to the lower half of the intake. It’s on the back side of the chamber near the firewall beside the brake booster.
Yes. The "Air Intake Chamber" is the intake manifold assembly, in two halves, between the valve cover and brake booster. There should be a ground wire attached there, immediately above the alternator.
from memory, there are a several of ground points, one of which connect the intake manifold to the fender/frame. One of them must connect back to the engine harness as well, which is where connector 3 comes into play. I do suspect (2) is the EC...
