Added a transmission gauge, using the glow shift trans tempt sensor. Double din installed. Had to deal with the dome fused kept on blowing after the install (probably draws too much power from the dome fuse). To fix it I ran the ground to the...
This posts reminded me that I bought 82662-60050 from him, but I have 82662-60090 (1996 lX450), which I think he doesn't offer. I just sent him a message about 82662-60090.
This is an amazing thread. I can't believe you pulled off that swap as fast as you did. And the combination of the LM2 and the 10 speed transmission sounds amazing-- although I have wondered about that oil pump belt and the computer...
I created this product a few months ago.
80 SERIES LANDCRUISER, BACK UP LIGHT HOUSINGS (PAIR)
These lights work great for a back up and or camp lights, depending upon how you wire them into your Cruiser.
The PETG 3D printed light housings...
According to your signature, your 1FZ is getting up there in miles. Many need a full $$$$ rebuild about 350K miles.
I think the question is, when your 1FZ needs a rebuild, what do you do? Spend $$$$ to rebuild it or do you swap in a more modern...
I'm not entirely sure, it sounds like he is just soldering in a resistor so it can communicate with the FTE ECU.
I would do this myself, but haven't done the research on what needs to be done, and Bryan gave a very fair price to just do it for...
Starting to make some progress on the mechanical side of the '95. Rear axle refurbed with all new Toyota parts and new Toyota brake components for the win.
Alright so I've been wanting to clean up the thread and kind of do a lessons learned. So with that, here's what I've learned from the doing the swap mostly myself, what I outsourced to other people, etc.
Just do the damn thing, I say this...
I was wondering about that. There is a ton of emissions equipment post turbo that initially ruled out the engine for me due to possible clearance issues, besides the ECM being locked. At the time, I didn't know my state doesn't care about...
3 inch exhaust all the way back, god she sounds great.
I do miss the turbo sounds from only having a downpipe. I guess ill have to solve that with a larger turbo 🤣.
Id say im actually being logical. I love the FTE platform and dont regret it one bit, its far better than the tired 1fz I had. But when you're spending your own money and not someone else's on builds its easy for it to lose some luster.
Not...
We get a lot of phone calls at the shop looking for tech help beyond our YouTube videos. While I love helping when I can it's really hard to drop working on a paying job to take help calls. The last few live streams folks have asked about one...
Also, you can bend up you own lines for very low cost. It’s so easy a girl can do it!…just kidding about that, but a YouTube tutorial and simple tools can get it done. I help bend up and replace the brake hard lines on my ‘75 Fj40 restoration...
FYI: an 80 series is a very maintenance heavy vehicle. Not college kid friendly, unless you are willing to work on it yourself.
Since you don't have the money, do you have the time and are you willing to learn?
IMHO, if you are replacing the...
Pull up a chair, this will be a long one.
Today, I was laying under the 1993 80 waiting for the slow drip on the oil change to achieve whatever slow cadence I've used over the decades to cue reinstalling the drain bolt. My wife pulled up and I...
IMHO, as someone who has done a swap (6.0L L96/6L90e) and evaluated all the possible choices, I do think a LS or LM2 are the best choices. There is a reason LS swaps are extremely common...they are stout, powerful and simple.
1990 era Toyota...
