FWIW the fan we used was from an early 100 series.
The only reason we stopped was that we could not get DEPO to produce enough. We would run out every year.
It's wired on with the ignition, so key on = fan on. There's a temp sensor in the harness that will shut the fan off if it's below 60°F ambient. If you need to shut it off manually, there's a fuse on the relay that can be pulled.

I have done a lot of remote solo travel, and the only major parts I carry for an 80 is a fuel pump and a PS high pressure hose. (never needed)

I installed a used fuel filler on mine in 2020. The old one was able to come out in one piece, the replacement was cut. I reconnected it using 1.5 inch fuel filler hose from Napa. It was probably made by Gates. It works well enough.
Admittedly, you are not a mechanic;, AAA is your friend.
