Yes, this has been done on my shop truck, works great. There are 2 terminals on the 79-87 2F alt: IG and L. There are 3 terminals in the 3FE plug: IG, L, and S. IG is 12V+ from the ignition switch to excite the alt (turns on the charging). L...

Correct. You need the new gasket with the new pan. You will also need a new drain plug and gasket. 90341-12012 and 90430-12031.

The Trollhole carb is a clone of the world market 61012 Aisan carb used from 81-87. Any kit for an FJ60 will work. Dirt is dirt. If you left me a voicemail regarding a stock replacement and I didn’t reply, it is because I have nothing to offer...

I bought a JC Penny lifetime battery for my FJ40 in 1975. Cost me $55 and, just like they promised, it was the last battery I had to buy for it and that was 47 years ago. Unfortunately that battery put them out of the automotive service business...

And last ones. Built up the courage and drilled out the 3.5" hole in the apron. My wood template was spot on and everything fit perfect.

I made a couple little brackets like this out of heavy duty washers to mount the 2F air cleaner on a 2F with earlier intake manifold. The first image shows the one I used on the side of the engine block. Perhaps you could make something similar.

I ran that settup for awhile. You are on the right track. I built a spacer, probably a little more than 1" thick to move the housing over like you have on the head with the aluminum spacer. I then built new "L" brackets for the cleaner housing...

It has been posted that the 55 cable is longer. Don't know how much longer but it fits the 40 at both ends IIRC.

Thank you for the update, and the feedback on the product. I sure like seeing "Made in Japan" as opposed to "Made in China". In my experience products made in Japan are very high quality, whereas made in China might be good, but the probability...

Just received and installed the new cable from FJparts.com and it’s seems to be just what I needed. The firewall plate is identical to my original so that should be good there. The length is as stated, extending about four inches beyond the stock...

Yeah so the cable that was removed from my ‘71 3spd & single piece case was 64”. This would be stock length for my setup, though with the additional length i opted for the longer version (68” marketed for the BJ40 from ‘75-77.) is it also...

The last two posts are stunning in a 'real world' sense. "do what you love and everything is rosy" Well, that is obviously a two-edged sword. Trade school was a scam - yikes. College degrees 'are worthless' (other threads)-yikes. Modern culture...
