Got some more great news. Christo Slee, our primary sponsor, will also be attending the 100s in the Hills as a participant! He has offered to personally deliver anything from the shop that you need. Call the shop, make your purchase and save on shipping! How can you beat that?! As always, when you support our sponsors, thank them for supporting us and this event.

I feel some camp installs coming on! We'll already be doing a little work on bluecruisers truck!

Just ordered my group 31 battery tray and it shipped today from them! No camp installs for, it's going in as soon as it gets here!

That's about when I'm planning to leave as well. Do you want to caravan? Anyone else passing through Albuquerque on Thursday morning want to join us? I'm planning for a lunch stop in Bloomfield or Aztec. There are a few fast-food choices in either location or I may just make some sammiches.

We are planning to get into ABQ around midnight on Wednesday. Staying the night in Dolores Thursday, then Ouray arrival Friday AM. Will be me and CruiserHead05 who just upgraded to a 100 this weekend (inspired by the event/caravan concept) along with anyone else who wants to meet up between VA and CO.

My family will be in the area the entire week before this event. If anyone wants to hook up to camp, do trails or just hang out let me know. Our itinerary is open. In fact it may be too open. This will be our first visit to this area of Colorado so we are just going to wing it. Kids are girl 10, boy 6 and girl 4 if anyone is thinking of hooking up with us before hand.

I am up for a caravan.

Good to hear about Christo. Wish he could magically whip up a few rear bumpers to bring out. ;)

My cruiser will be so lonely without a trasharoo... :frown:

Is there a specific reason you are staying in Dolores Thursday night? Just want to see it? It's about a 6-hour drive from Albuquerque to Ouray, with highway 550 being the most direct route, including a few stops for breaks, lunch, etc.

If anyone wants to caravan from Albuquerque to Ouray, leaving Thursday about 10 AM, send me a PM with your phone number and I will respond with mine.

Initially we thought it was the only way that we could make our girlfriends happy with the trip. Come to find out, that they've registered with the forum, and have been tracking discussions as well, so we'll just call it an overnight stay for now.

The big question is: What time does the fun start on Friday? We have a 2 hour drive from Dolores, so just wanted to make sure that we don't show up to a shanty town with no trucks in sight!

Pink plasti dip rear bumper?

Sorry if this has already been addressed; this has turned into a very long thread.....

Understand fire restrictions may be in place which will prevent open fires. As such, would it be appropriate to bring a propane camp stove for cooking?

If fires are permitted, will firewood be available for purchase locally? I can bring some, but get concerned about bringing species along, and would rather not worry about being responsible for introducing a new invasive species. Along with that, are fire pits with grill tops on location or is that something we should also bring along? Or, would it be best to just support the local businesses and eat out for breakfast/dinner and do sandwiches for lunch? Sorry for the ridiculous level of detail in my recent questions, just trying to figure out what's necessary and unnecessary.

The open fire ban could possibly be cancelled by the time of the event with the rain that we have been getting. Propane camp stoves will be fine. Sometimes during a ban you can still find places selling firewood. I would rather see those coming from out of state to wait and purchase firewood along the way once in CO and closer to Ouray. That way the invasive species issue is eliminated. There are no dedicated camp spots at the location this year, so there are no fire pits. I believe there was one or two small fire pits that someone had made. I would bring the portable grill tops if you want.
Plan on cooking at camp as we don't need 20 some trucks spread out through Ouray for breakfast when we are trying to hit the trail. There will be plenty of time for dinner in town and possibly a lunch stop depending on the route.

It doesn't have to be difficult. You can do a lot with a cooler and a coleman stove...

I'm very curious also about when things will start on Friday? Depends on how early we get up leave from ABQ. Probably get up early anyway since I am super excited to get there!

Regarding campfires and fire pits, I would encourage everyone to follow the Leave No Trace guidelines. If there is already a fire ring or pit where you are camping, please use it and don't create a new one. It sounds like this site is a primitive site with nothing developed, other than it has been used in the past for dispersed camping.

For meals, here is what I'm planning, in case this is helpful to others: For breakfasts, I would suggest easy stuff like oatmeal, cereal, granola bars, fruit, etc. that require very little cooking. You can quickly boil water for coffee, tea, hot cocoa, oatmeal with a propane/white gas stove and be ready to go. It helps to get you up and moving and ready to go without much effort. A cooked, hearty breakfast is great but can be a huge time consumer depending on what you're cooking and how many people you're feeding. All of my lunches will be from the cooler and food boxes I will haul with me on the trail (Sandwiches, snack bars, fruit). Dinners will probably be mostly stuff I've cooked at home and then frozen, maybe some hamburger helper, and possibly a night or two out in Ouray.

Mtdaddict, Paflytyer, Jon,

Just reading some of the posts im curious,

Do you guys plan on coming up with (or posting details) on certain group trails at certain times prior to the event? I wounder if it would be beneficial to make two or even three runs almost overlapping to accomidate the group size that may be out there..

I know for myself, (not speaking for anyone else here) It may be nice to have options of trail A, B, C at different times etc.. with a small group rather than feeling like theres a certain trail at a certain time, otherwise your on your own. It would (again for myself) be more relaxing of having options rather than a hardcore schedule.. Especially for those of us that are not fortunate enough to live in colorado (yet!!:p) and can only make it out once a year at most..

I have been through the San Juans enough to be able to head out on trails solo if needed, but thats obviously not the point and why I think alot of us are coming out for this great event.

My gut feeling is this is probaly already planned out in a very user friendly way, It just maybe has'nt been posted.

Lastly Thats for all the great Sponsors jumping on board!! Is there any talk of a raffle or anything we can do to help with the support??

13 days and counting for myself!! Had lots of parts delievered over the last couple days and need to get to work!!

All good questions. We will absolutely have choices. There will be a ton of info coming this week. Trails, times, plans. Options for everyone's comfort level and experience will be given.

too excited!!!

Quick question to help me decide what to do for the potluck:

Roughly what time should we anticipate being in camp on Friday, and what time will we be having the dinner?

That way I can decide either to prepare something and just warm it up, or to cook at camp.

Maybe I can get away with just bringing some chips and the hottest salsa you have ever tried (hint: research Scorpion peppers)!
