Value, Not Price

I try and price all this stuff out as fair as possible, not really into the charge-what-the-market-will-bear thing.

(and).....the new super-simple/super-strong latching setup.

Kevin - Thanks to you and Amy (and Tubby) for a great drive-by. Been playing and working since we saw you - all is well on the island, now back in Cali for a week.

As for the two topics in the quote, you may be the last person on earth to be setting prices on WagonGear gear. A bunch of other people seem to value your work more than you do! How about you let us work out the pricing with Amy and you just keep creating awesome stuff?

The rod latch you showed me is the real deal. Simple, effective and hard to screw up.

Lois and I are negotiating on flip-outs. She thinks the window frames in black would not match the glitz-mobile's chrome accessories. I'll keep working on her.

Keep up the good work, get the motor done and go have some fun!

Where's you get the spectrum liner?

Johnny I got it from second skin per a recomendation in one of Kevin's post's he stated that it was pricy but really good. The quality of the stuff I got is out of this world. I really did not think that the spectrum was going to do much but just that alone dropped at least 80 per cent of the noise down and even a little of the heat. The heat stuff is double sided foil with insulation in the center and about 3/8 inch thick, the foam sound dampiner I got is really thick at least 1/2 inch with a hard rubber backing (luxuary liner) and they state that it is 90 percent as effective on heat as the specific heat shield product. Working on getting it in. (And it is pricey what I got cost as much as the under seat storage box!!!!!!) I don't know it it is really worth the price but it sure is good stuff. http://www.secondskinaudio.com/index.php

Kevin I see where I need to cut it and have the cutoff saw all ready, It is just hard to do when the truck is in one state and I am in another. But I will wack off the corners prior to that wonderful seat box placement. :p

Maybe I missed it, but what is the price and lead time?

Don;t know fer sure, but I bet I can tell you in a few weeks.

Per kevin :

I do not know what it will cost to UPS them, they are really just a big box already though so I'm not expecting it to be too terrible.

They will not be less than $600 and I sure hope they don't go over $800.
That's about as close as I can get pending the missing info above.

I don't think you guys want to see what Amy would charge all of you. :p

Not a problem Joey, I actually posted the exact price breakdown back in post #60, here it is again: (with adjustment for the locks cost now that I have those figured out)

As for lead-time, I'm just building them one at a time, I picked up IndianDocs from powder on Friday, will make Jaxon's next, then Matt's, #4 spot is open still if you want in. I don't expect them to be a big item.

Here is Docs box all powdered up:

This is the lock mechanism before it was powdered, it's just going to be standard on them, there if you want it.
The lock core is one of the most common utility keys in the country, chances are you can have it re-keyed to match something on your key chain, or just use it as is.

And no matter what else happens, I can certainly say that my latch setup is WAY more secure than the original FJ40 seat box latch system:

Thanks Matt, it's always good to see something come back from powder, just finishes everything off.
Having Jaxons parts cut now, he going for exactly the same thing as Docs, let me know what you are thinking you want to do with the center section and I'll get your parts lined up right after that.

Yeah, if you are not sure about the final use it's best to just leave it solid, all options are open that way. I'll set up to make another one just like Docs.

I think it would be cool to hinge the back of the console and then have a hidden lock/release inside of it, release that and the console would tip back to reveal a smugglers hatch.

With that said do you want me to send you my Tuffy and you can do it? I think it would be super cool and I'm sure would be a neat marketing approach. We are going to be out west till Mid to Late October well the 17th I think I can send it when we get back.

Finished Box

That there sure is purdy, yes sir now it's just in the wrong part of the U. S. All kidding aside your work as usual is well beyond reproach, the highest standard if you built guns your name would be Browning for sure. Looking forward to hearing about the details of getting you some money, and the shipping of course. Got to get in gear and figure out the carpet the sound proffing and insulation is just about done. Any suggestions on replacement seats I don't want anything with high bolsters(wings on the side) at my size I just break them down to quick. Procars , REcaro's , all have those bolsters and I will never never again buy a Corbeau seat again that dang thing started breaking down in the stitches and rolling the bolster in the first week, within a month I was sitting on the steel frame. So I am thinking of OMU type but my experence with stock seats is limited so suggestions anyone?:)

Doc, Don't get BMW seats. The side bolster isn't all that high but they twist and are "tall" I have a set of their heated leather seats and want to swap them for Subaru outback seats. My .02

You can send me your Tuffy if you want Matt (or anyone else for that matter)
I don't even know how they will fit on here since I don't have one.
If you do that though I'm pretty sure it will delay your box a bit, and it might take me a month to figure out a setup I really like, I'm known for sitting and staring at things for a long time. :p

Doc, send me the address you want it to go to and I'll get the shipping quote, can have it headed your way tomorrow.
I just realized that I forgot to put the paypal fees on both those price breakdowns, the fudge factor is getting eaten into quick....

As for seats, I don't know.
The best I have found so far are Subaru seats, we have a set from (I think) an 01 outback, the grey almost perfectly matches the Toyota grey (most people don't even realize they are not stock) they are comfy and we have had them in there since 04. Best part; we got them for $9 from a pik-n-pul.
Can't really beat that.
BMW seats were an option, I like the looks of the OLD recaro seats. The were still too new when I looked at them, but the seats from the first generation Scions looked very promising as well (in black).
I should look into a set of those to see if they would fit.

Don't currently have a line on a Subaru Seat but I will broaden my search. PM Sent with shipping info, Just started a thread in the 60 section on another seat idea I am toying with. But then I am an old crazy biker/offroader and I don't mind trying some wild ideas but Straun Beadlocks never again.....Oh I forgot to mention in the PM don't ship these signature required as I am always out of town durring the week please request that they drop them by the back door or the shop door. My son comes by after work and puts stuff up for me.

Love hearing the seat options. At 6' and 210# I couldn't agree more on the bolsters. My wife, being 6' and 120# will ONLY drive with bolsters :p

I need to do a pick'n'pull run. Maybe pick up a few seat sets to play with. I like the idea of leather and heated seats. I'm thinking maybe Land Rover or some big Merc.

Kevin, I'm still mulling it over but I may take up that next slot. Working on my noise and heat abatement options now.

.... Working on my noise and heat abatement options now.

Lay off the Mexican food and that'll cut half of it right there ...
:D

I just made up the label to ship Docs box over to him, that's a pretty long ride from here to SC and it only came out to $49 ($49.20 to be exact but I don't like decimal places)

Doesn't look like shipping will be too cost prohibitive.
