OOOOOO!!!!
AAAAAAAAAH!!!!

Diggin it already!
How much do you figure that front bumper weighs?
Theyre soooper beefy!
How much did the cat cut end up running?
Where did you have that done at?
I need to get exhaust in boarded one of these days, but I dont think its worth the 500.00 ive been quoted.
Were the sliders pretty easy to install?
Whens the lift gonna start?

Im soooo excited for you Jack!

Looks good! I don't really think that you need to do a whole lot to 80s to make them great expedition vehicles.

I agree, too bad we can't just leave them alone.:D

I have heard anywhere from 90-120lbs on the front bumper. I think it is on the lighter side of that, Darcie and I were able to move it around and lift it without too much trouble.

The cat turn cost $70 and about 45 minutes.

I had the place right there on Market Street (sorry can't think of the name right now), just north of Kawisaki, Harley, Honda and across the street from Aamco transmission. Just two younger guys and they did a great job. They carry both Flowmaster and Magnaflow mufflers so I will probably head back to them if I decide to put a different muffler on.

Sliders went on pretty easy, only problem was since I had the cats turned without the sliders there, the flange that is between the cats turned and interfered with the outrigger that runs under the cats. So I had to notch it out just a little. No biggie.

The sliders weighed 64lbs each.

Well the lift per se won't start right away, springs haven't shipped from Austrailia yet, so it will be a while. However, I am going to get started on the axle tear down. Gotta rebuild both and re-gear. I am going to tackle the re-gear myself, should be fun...

Plus get everything else ready, so much to do.

The good thing is that my garage door was installed today, 20' wide by 8' foot tall of sexy, sexy door.:bounce::bounce: I do have to do some trimming out around it, but could possibly get started this weekend or I might just wait for T-day weekend.

Kevin at Landa Muffler on 4th Street has done the exhaust work on my hundy. After Sam got done with the rear Fox mounts I had to have Kevin install a tail pipe from the Magnaflow...that he installed 2 1/2 years ago...out. I decided not to have him reinstall the glass pack resonator to allow me to run the larger (2.5") exhaust pipe from the Magnaflow out...anyway he did the work pronto for me while I waited. The exhaust sounds alot better now and by cutting out the resonator it feels a little peppier :).

There are actually several good exhaust shops in town...refreshing!

Nice Jack...
Congrats on the door.
Things are coming right along for you!
The guy that you took it to, was the one that quoted 450.00 with RE USING the cats. I thought that was a bit pricy.
Theyre nice enough guyz and theyre the new owners...I took it there when the old guy owned it.
Nice job so far! Im curious to find out how the gear install goes. I wanted to try that myself, but in the end I didnt trust myself to do that.

Get all practiced up on setting up gears, I'll probably want to go with higher gears when I get 40's on the 40. If you can help me set them up it might be doable.

Need a dial indicator, lathe to cut the pinion spacer and check/correct the ARB carrier runout and a s#$%load of experience. I'm lacking the experience part but I'd love to start getting some by doing your 40 :grinpimp:

Looking sweet Jack , Im looking forward to more of your rigs progress.

I wouldn't get too excited, I may royally screw it up.:crybaby:

Actually I am going to use Toyota crush sleeves, they work for stock applications and there is no solid spacer for the rear axle anyway. If everything is set up right, crush sleeves work just fine.

Me too.:bounce:

I thought the 40 diff used shims?

Well there should be shims under the pinion bearing next to the teeth and if you use a collar instead of a crush sleeve, then you can use shims there also. The carrier itself uses the adjustment screw collars.

Oh that's right you have the e-lockers...sorry I forgot...I was thinking you were going ARB air lockers.

Well on my axles, they are a bit of a hybrid. The e-lockers are different than open carriers on the 80's.

The front axle is pretty standard Toyota, uses shims for the pinion adjustment and screw adjusters for the carrier.

The rear axle uses shims for the pinion and shims for the carrier. Lucky for me the carrier shims are a Toyota only item, so I hope I can get the carrier with in spec with the stock shims. Most seem to work that way, but if anyone will have to buy shims, it will be me.:crybaby:

You're not alone on that one. Sean (River City Diffs) had to order shims for mine from Toyota...there were "0" in the country...we waited 3-weeks for them to come in...hence the 6-week down time last year on my rig.

Great way to instill confidence there Dan.;p I am really hoping I can/mine will spec out with the shims already installed. But again, my luck, I will have to order shims.

Sorry buddy! Better to plan than be dismayed! Hopefully you'll find 'em without a wait!

The dorkle (I mean Snorkle) has been installed. I also installed Slee's AC dryer skid plate. It doesn't look like much in the pictures, the light was all wrong, but it will save an expensive part from damage.

Yep looking much like the poser now...

Still waiting on springs.

Is it just the lighting/shadow or do you have a rear non-OEM bumper mounted?

Nope, still the factory one, for now.

Good news is that I picked up a used miller 250 mig welder, so I can melt some metal now.:D I am pretty excited.

WOW! Score! Where did you find that?! I really wished I would have been able to have 'stretched' to the 250...but it wasn't in the budget.

Nice Jack!
Score on the MM 250 too!
How much did you pick that up for?
I was wondering if you were gonna get more work done!
Just out of curosity...why did you decide that you needed a snorkle?
Ive never fully understood the advantage to those!

Looks great!
Cant wait till the lift gets in and you "JACK" the mofo up!
