Up for sale is a 1977 USA spec Toyota Land cruiser FJ40. This land cruiser was bought with intention of driving around but now is collecting dust so it is time to sell. Originally from AZ so dry most its life. $21,500.00
-It starts right up and runs great. Stops well and has the original motor and transmission.
-Has been gone through by a mechanic to ensure that car runs well.
-Many steering components have recently been replaced and rebuilt.
-Has ARB rear air locker and compressor although it has not been tested.

Up for sale is a 10/65 FJ40. CA truck PO had the chassis and body blasted and primed for paint a few years back. No rust or rot in the usual cruiser areas, minor surface rust from sitting outside. Body is very clean and straight, chassis has been repainted. It also has a complete hardtop with all glass intact. Doors have no damage or rot in the typical areas. Has original wheels and hub caps. Original seat in decent shape. I have boxes of parts that came with it (steering components, dash parts, pedals, ect.) Not sure if this is the right place to post this but looking to get some other eyes on this one. I've received some vague responses from the seller regarding some basic questions I've asked like:
What is happening with the rear? What is/was bolted to the frame/bumper? Why were the badges where they are? What's under the hood - overheating/radiator blown?
I'm assuming it's F155 with 3 on the tree but can't get interior or undercarriage pics yet.
Any thoughts or immediate red flags?
Not mine but in my neighborhood. Looks like it is in decent shape from our walks past it but have never seen it driving around.

This forum came highly recommended from a couple friends of mine.
I bought this 1978 FJ40 from my uncle, it's a rusty old girl that looks to have spent it's entire life in the Midwest.
The good; it runs and drives, stops, has a title and hasn't been molested at all.
The bad; it is rusted everywhere and rusted through most everywhere.
My ideal scenario, unless someone has a better idea, would be to find a FJ or a BJ 40 that doesn't have a title or is just a roller with a good frame and body that I could swap over the driveline, mechanical components and glass over to.
Or maybe I sell it to someone else to do the same thing with a clean chassis that they have?

Reluctantly selling my 1974 FJ40. Purchased as a non-running questionable impulse buy in January 2017, I have lovingly spent many hours and lots of dollars getting “Darryl” back on the road using oem toyota parts or bits and pieces I’ve sourced from all kinds of different people and places. Has largely functioned as a grocery getter, beer run chariot, neighborhood pool wagon, and fun way to visit nearby friends and family and grab pizza on Friday nights.
The original 1.5F starts easily running a Cityracer carb with the original in a box that will go with the sale. 3 speed. New Toyota distributor, fuel pump, etc. Recent oil change and coolant flush. Stops great with a 1976 disc brake front axle, replaced master cylinder, power booster...
