This is a very rare 1974 Toyota FJ43 with the original Type F engine that made this vehicles famous. 6 cylinders and original 3 speed transmission. The car was imported from South America where it spent all of its time in cold climate. The original owner had it for over 40 years. It is 100% original. No restoration has been done. It runs great, original paint (Color Code White 0661), clean interior, original seats, and many original (Japanese) parts are still in place. There are some very small signs of rust in some areas of the cabin. But it can easily be fixed without breaking the bank. We have all the records, including the original invoice from Toyota from 1974, oil changes, and maintenance performed throughout the years. US...

1978 TOYOTA FJ40 LANDCRUISER
I am selling off my 1982 FJ40. The truck is an 82 FJ40 , one of the rarest years. It is manual steering, 4 speed original interior except for the driver seat bottom. The truck has 91,000 original miles. It has new brakes and tires. It has been disassembled and painted and is being assembled with new weatherstripping . A rare find: working 1965 FJ40. Original engine and body. Inside was coated with a type of "rhino-liner" early enough in its life to prevent typical rust seen in an FJ this old. There is a non-structural rust-through spot under the driver seat. Three speed - moved from the column to the floor. I may be the third owner. When I bought it in 2008, it had come to him from a hunting club near Roanoke river. 69k miles. I put a new OME suspension and Warn winch on it in 2008.
Has a broken front left hub - torque sheared bolts turning on asphalt while the hub was locked.

Great reliable FJ40, looks great and drives great. Just enough upgrades to make it drive a little easier and go a few more places, but not enough to take away from the great stock look of the FJ40. This is a great truck for the person looking for an "unmolested" vehicle which is very hard to find in a 47 year old vehicle
Upgraded but still very much original feeling - which is what drew me to this 7 years ago- that and it is nearly rust free. Reproduction soft top that looks great and makes it super easy to have an open air feel. Comes with both hard doors and half soft doors. I have worked hard to continually fix the little details. The paint job is good at 10 feet, but not great closer. The oil pressure and stock water temp gauges...
Great condition, clean, runs very well, no big issues. FUN vehicle that drives well around town as well as climbing around the desert and forest roads!
Upgrades:
5.3 Vortec (fuel injected) V8 conversion with 4L60E automatic transmission and transfer case. Installed in 2010 by Tempe Speed and Performance from 2004 Chevy Escalade. Engine had 75k on it then.
Driving range: Just around town and a couple times to and from Phoenix in the last couple years.
Springs and shocks and Rancho suspension replaced in 2012.
FJ60 twin stick split transfer case, from an 80's FJ gear to gear.
Stock 410 gearing.

I bought it with a crappy 305 in it and rebuilt it over 2 years. It’s always stored in my garage and now with the newer V8 and the auto and power steering it is a joy to drive. I need a new project though and want to make a FJ45.
I have no idea how many miles were on this when I got it. Since adding the GPS speedometer there are roughly 1500mi on it now. It's not my daily driver and the mileage might go up some as I take it out once a month or so.
