As I have been feeling the itch to get out to do some wheeling, I got the feeling several CSC members were feeling the same way. I have a stock Locked 80, and was thinking something along the lines of Sedona, Bull Dog Canyon or perhaps Red Creek. Something that's not a dirt road but, also that's not a 3.5 or 4.0 rating either. I would like to get some time int he Crusier off-road, but not destroy it in the process. We have two kids that at least one (5yrs old) would be accompanying us.

I was thinking a Sunday run - perhaps around Novemeber 2nd or November 9th timeframe.

I recently heard on the news that they have lifted no campfires in the parks, I am not sure if this is an indication they may be (or already have) lifted some restrictions on closed trails.

If it's Sedona, there's Broken Arrow or perhaps a less known trail - someone please chime in on a suggestion.

If it's Red Creek, I could and will contact the forest services offices and see if that trail is on the closed list. This is the one northwest of the area by sheeps crossing.

If Bull Dog canyon, I need someone to point the way to get the permits to run this.

Your input and presence would be greatly appreciated!

we are only going to be back for Thanksgiving :frown:

important presentations at work the next two weeks

can't wait :bounce: :bounce2: :steer: :steer:

Wheeling

I might be up for this one. But I can't help to much with the prep as I have little clue as to what would be needed to go where.:censor:

Buldog is a 2WD trail basically, but really pretty. I pulled a LONG-ish run once by doing Lower to Upper Sycamore, then accross the hiway to the Fourpeaks entrance to Saguaro coves, then out to the Bush hiway down to the north entrance to Bulldog and down to the South entrance. It was a long day but a beautiful run. Easy too!

Aha! You were driving the prerunner, right... :D

We haven't been in Bulldog lately, but about two years ago there were two washed out offcamber drop-down-the-ravine spots where I for one would NOT want to be in two-wheel drive...

Well - it (Bulldog) was just a suggestion. As it's been quite some time since my last organized trail run - I thought I would just throw out some ideas. How about Box Canyon in Wickenburg? Is there a more challenging part to that then just the canyon/river itself? Something a stock 80 could do?

John

Nothing wrong with Bulldog Canyon, it's pretty neat. I just wouldn't do it in 2WD, especially not in those two spots. But wait - you have an 80. You can't do 2WD anyway, right?

I have wanted to do that Hassayampa Box for a while - the pics in the book look cool

maybe something we could think about for around Thanksgiving or Christmas

I am *NOT* against more than ONE run! I just wanted to get out and run this 80 - aside from the desert around my house!! :)

I am game for Box Canyon - out of town, not a long ass drive, great wheelin!!! Anyone have any reservations about this?

I have zero problems with it, other than time.:frown: I'm saving my get out of work coupons for thanksgiving weekend.

Are you working Sunday's? My wife works Saturdays - so that's why I lean more toward Sunday.

That isn't the problem Kevin has.

His boss is a real &*%@!

:grinpimp:

Oh - I have had some of those too! And not just at work, the ex-wife was quite a piece of work. LOL

I think what Ross is so eloquently trying to say is, I work for myself. Some times have lots of time, wheel during the week, etc, other times, like now no time for fun.:frown:

Well, there's that...and all the distractions. Kevin's a tad ADD, between work projects, MUD, freinds stopping by the shop, other people stopping by the shop, me calling to BS...:grinpimp:

OOOOOOHHHHHHHHH R-I-G-H-T !! I didn't realize it was THAT kind of boss!

Well, hopefully we can make something work for all who are interested in attending, at the very least, this could be one run - then have the next one lined up for soon after.

Especially with gas getting down to $2.89 a gallon, now - it's not a small fortune to fill the cruisers!

I'm in! Just let me know when and where. Btw the step, or whatever you want to call it, near the end of Box Canyon requires either A) rock stacking or B) lockers. Same damn spot Bman had to yank me over last year, but this time I made it unlocked and stacking rocks.

Y'all need to clarify which box canyon - Florence Junction (way east) or Hassayampa (way west). That step at Florence Junction isn't so bad, you just gotta hug the wall. I watched a stock Geo Tracker tackle it (of course I've seen a heep get stuck on it and put a hole in his fuel tank too:lol:). If you go in from Cottonwood Canyon (north to south), you will be going down the step and just need to hug the wall on your passenger side. Of course, rains and drainage tend to reshape the trail....

I, personally, was thinking of the one out west - out of Wickenburg. Though I haven't had the chance to Run the one out of Florence, I think having at least one of my kids (5 yrs old) - the riverbed and canyon out of Wickenburg would be better.

Would anyone else be bringing their kids? I would like to know who else has 'mud monkeys' they may bring along. I would offer that if there's some kids going between the ages of 5 to 10 yrs old, we could take turns with them riding together so they stay occupied and content between stops.
