anyone here care to ID this 80 ? It is out of Arizona and had a lot of stickers on it. The rear window has a stick on American flag with lady liberty on it. Seems the cruiser was down in south America at one point. I don't think the injuries in the FJ80 were serious based on the left front fender damage. On the other hand, the other SUV that was hit by another truck was totaled and looked fatal.

This happened up here in the greater Vancouver area British Columbia Canada

Bummer. Can't believe there are fatalities in the other vehicle unless they were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected as well. That 80 is totalled - definite frame/powertrain damage.

WOW I just talked to that guy , he was in the parking lot next to Van Dam State park.
Dang!....... very cool guy from Poland he is on his 8th trip around the world (hence the 8-1)

I took pics of his rig , I will post them up when I get them off my camera. He has a website , I will see if I have that as well..

Did I say Dang !!! yet :frown:

Never seen that rig in Az. You'd think it would stick out. Of course, doesn't look like it spent much time here. :D

Dang!

Where and when was this? I didn't hear anything about it....was it in the news?

Yes,

That is the vehicle. I was using vancouver as a general referance point since most people in the world know where that is. To be specific it was in northwest surrey. I think it was clipped by the SUV. The Full sized truck, not in the pic, took the full blunt of the impact from the SUV. Checked out his web site and sent a general email if he is okay etc.

Hope he is OK! And hope he can continue his trip even if it's in a VW Bug like on his site.

Those grill grates on the Damage Multiplier are a good idea for an Expedition Rig. Has anyone applied those to a real bumper either ARB or Home Jobber?

Yup..... Robin Hood did that mod to the Cado on Slees Gen 1 bumper when it was his cambodian cruiser.

Trivia: Surrey is the car-crash capital of Canada.

if memory serves me right...surrey is also the new car theft capital of North America

I wonder if an ARB would have let him drive away...?

I doubt it. After seeing how bad they bend up during rock crawling I don't think it would have made it completely drivable. No doubt it would have lessened the damage, but that looks like it was a fairly high momentum crash. Perhaps a shortbus might have saved the lower portion near the ac dryer, but it looks like the top would have been toast.

I really like the looks of the old Slee front bumper with the upper hoops that was posted a few posts back. I bet that would have held up pretty well and maybe allowed him to drive away. I remember seeing them for sale on their site, but it looks like they are discontinued now.

Who knows though, this is all just arm chair quarterback speculation.
