I have the typical sliders with the tube on the outside as both rub protection and a as a side step for the wife and kids- I have been really worried about a little leg slipping and getting caught between the truck and the tube. Would be an ugly break.

Of course I ws not thinking about kids and little legs 6 years ago when I got these from Jim B, I had them left open. I liked the filler that slee does but that would be more work and time+ money than I wanted to spend. I have been looking and extruded metal, diamond plate etc. I had a chance to meet up with Jim a few weeks ago and this is what he came up with as idea.

We used 1/2 inch angle iron strips to fill it in ( I think it was a half, maybe .75). Lightweight, strong, keeps some of the rocks out on fast dirt roads and I can scrape the mud off the bottom of my shoes. And keeps the legs out!

Good thinkin'. I like what you did there.

I still want to get (or make) some sliders for my 62. Favorite is still the SROR design, though I'd have to offset them to compensate for the 1" body lift I'm eventually putting on.

I've seen expanded metal used to fill the gap. I like you're idea; looks very clean.

Easy to adjust for body lift<

Looking at the design, it looked like it wouldn't be difficult to do. Honestly I'm tempted to take a crack at fabbing my own sliders based on that design :D
