Ok, so I hate the mirrors on my BJ60. They don't stay in place, and they're tiny. I know there is an adjustment screw on the ball socket, but it's just a ball of rust. I've basically been driving without use of my side mirrors for about 2 years (since I got it!).

So... I want some Aussie mirrors - or so I thought...

Here are some mirrors, which are called Aussie:

Now there are also mirrors out there that I thought were "Aussie Mirrors" but they are much more square, and appear to swivel from the base - like those on the FJ cruiser minus the lights. What are they - and where to I get those? I've seen them on plenty of 60/62's on here...

Obviously, when searching for Aussie Mirrors, I come up with the above, and with not knowing what the other ones are, I don't know what to search for!!!

Thanks!

In the US, they're stock power FJ62 mirrors. HJ60s ( I believe ) came with manual versions of them.

These mirrors have been called "Aussie" mirriors. However, They are really Euro Spec mirrors. The Aussie FJ60 had the same mirrors as the US. I think you want to look for FJ62 style mirrors (all black , non power)

Like these?

Are these what you're talking about man...?

The 62-style mirrors...ordered then from CCOT, than sanded and Krylon'd Ultra Flat Black..

They've held up very well, and are way better than the mickey-mouse stock mirrors....

manual

They're manual....ordered from CCOT...they came chromed, then about a month later the plating started peeling off. I sanded them...then shot them with a couple coats of Krylon flat black....they've held up really well.

I wouldn't order from CCOT....they were slow to ship, sent the wrong parts, and the mirrors arrived dented and scratched due to s***ty packing...

just my .02

Me, I personally like the Euro mirrors.

Call me crazy but I like my chromies :hillbilly:

Chrome works when you have a chrome grille, bumpers, and shiny wheels. Not so much when you have a blacked out grille and black wheels though...

The aussie wide angles are the best. They look the best, and are rounded so there is no blind spot when driving. Thaes are what I have on my 85, and will be putting some on my 82....MAF has a good deal on them. Dont buy the cheapie Taiwan ones, but if you do you will have to silicone behind the glass, and repaint them and they will be good.

Very true.

I have no rust here in texas so my chrome is still shiny! :)

The manual fj62 mirror (large square) is available from CDan. It's OEM. I have a pair, they are fantastic.

Beware of all aftermarket Taiwanese mirrors! The housings are cheap & the glass is cheaper. Not enough adjustment, & wavy reflections makes it hard to back up without feeling drunk.

These mirrors are awesome. Installed them quite a few years ago and next to the ARB headlight upgrade , I think they are one of the best and easiest upgrades to a 60.

fender mirrors

I ordered a set of OEM fender mirrors for my FJ60 from MOT. Here's the thread from when I was looking for them.

There's pictures of the mirrors as well. I installed them with nutserts. The view is great, no more blind spots. l haven't gotten around to taking any pictures yet. Contact Mot. He is great to deal with. I got both sides arms, mirrors and gaskets for what $OR wants for just one arm.

Thanks, BT! :crybaby:

I've got a pair of these JDM (I hate saying that!) powered fender mirrors, too. :grinpimp:

I believe they're discontiued for the 62, but I've heard that the ones for the 80 series works (Don't take my word for it though!)

Cdan use to have the a 70 series mirror, off a pickup model not sold here in the US. I think they were $350+ per pair. But look great. I'll stick to my loose credit card size stocker's for a while..

I have read here that the Aussie style like MAF has are funky because of the Convex glass, "things may look closer than they appear" etc. They look great... What say you, that own them?
