FJ61? Never heard of it... the "1" is supposed to designate the 12H-T Turbo Diesel engine... hence, HJ61 (H for 12"H"-T)... they were available either rhd and lhd.

this is an FJ61, Gasoline Engine, the HJ60 and 61 dont come with ambulance doors.

look around where the steering box would have been placed on the right side of the frame. you might be able to see the outline of the box if it was driver right.

I'm just guessing?

Sure they do! Maybe not in Peru, but in other countries, the HJ60 and HJ61 could be had with swing out back doors.... engine and rear doors don't have to match.

This is the way the Chassis codes work for Toyota:

It is 4 total... 2 letters, followed by 2 numbers...

Example:
FJ60
F= F series petrol engine
J= Land Cruiser
6= 6 series of Land Cruiser
0= Regular model

FJ62:
Where 2 = 3F engine... would be EFI or Carb

HJ60 =
where H = H series diesel engine (2H)

HJ61 =
where 1 equals turbo diesel engine (12H-T)

There's more to the chassis code, but that is the basics...

The best way to find out what it is, is by looking at the stamped number on the chassis next to the left front tire!
example for an HJ61:

I probably confused everyone. SORRY!!!!!!!! :doh:

i dont think there is any hj62's,is that a factory snorkel?never seen one.

That forum/post had all kinds of wrong in it. in 83 there was no 61 or 62.

hks3sgte, I did some research, haven't yet found a single HJ62 that provides and back up. Looks like you're right.
