this is an FJ61, Gasoline Engine, the HJ60 and 61 dont come with ambulance doors.

Oh yes they do;) The general rule seems to be that the lower spec vehicles got the amby doors regardless of fuel type
The holes for both doors are usually predrilled into all 60 series as far as I know.

However the high roof and amby doors was not available in all countries but I have seen top of the range HJ61 with amby doors and high roof but not in oz

The "1" in 61 denotes that is a turbo diesel. No such thing as a FJ61

this is original?

If you reckon it is a FJ61 try having a look at the aluminium plate on the firewall where it has all the info regarding your landcruiser.
Some pics of your FJ61 body plate will be very interesting:D

I see FJ61 ,HJ62 and FJ65 every week in my local classified but they are posted by people who know little about landcruisers or the alph numeral system upon which the various models are classified.
When ever Ive tackled an owner on the issue of what model it is, I am always proven right once they look at the body plate.
Headlights dont mean much except that it is a later model,my 87 HJ61 had round headlights, but so did the HJ/FJ60 until 1990 in oz

I have "heard" of the Japanese market having an FJ61V(or G) and a BJ61V(or G)... I don't have any p[roof of that, however.

But as Rosco said, the VIN plate will tell all.

Yeh, a pic of the data plate would be good. There are heaps of those here in Aus. Looks like a FJ62 Sahara model. It would be cool if I was wrong though!

the 1 designates it is in Japan for their domestic market.

Hence HZJ81 is not a turbo diesel. It is an 80 series for japan. A FJ61 is a japan market 60 series with a high roof and a gas engine.

If it says fj61 on a vin it was a rhd.

that's true. I have an epc set for japan. lots of BJ61's etc. It designates their market.

Hah ! howz about that it does actually say FJ62 I swear that ive seen FJ61 stamped on something somewhere on it though.
As It was on a panel or guard somewhere I just remember that is was on a white painted surface. I had another quick look around to try and find it but could not.
So it's a 62 with round headlights funny stuff ive always assumed that 62's were only the square light model aswell.

I'll have a good look around at next opportunity and see if i can find that stamp I thought i saw !

I have somewhere the details of when changes were made to 60 series in Aus, from a long serving Toyota mechanic. I'll find it and post it for reference for Aussies.

this FJ61 have the cleaning arms in the left side... so it is a left hand FJ... I whant to see the vintag but they didnt let me open it...

My 1988 FJ62 has the Square Headlights. I'm sure they were a crossover between the 60 and 80 series. There are a couple of weird things that I do find from time to time. The dash top around the insturment cluster is styled in the shape of a 80 series not a 60. Another oddity is the ash try in the dash. Neither a 60 nor 80 series will fit, only a 62.

Weird hey.
