I have been fighting with a small exhaust leak on my 73 FJ40 and had all but given up, so I was doubling factory gaskets with sealant between them, all the tricks I could think of. Saw an add for these remflex exhaust gaskets on MUD and I just finished putting it on and now I can hear all the other sounds a "tractor motor" makes, but no exhaust leaks!! These things are awesome! If you have a leak I highly recommend them. A little pricey, but less than factory and in my opinion worth it. Had fast service getting them here too. I have been amazed! Just my 2 cents for anyone fighting a header gasket leak.:bounce::clap:

That good to hear, I purchased a set a while back. I've just waiting for the stock gasket to start leaking and it has started to leak. So I'm getting ready to install it.

Great Gaskets I'm only using them from now on. The seal great and because of the high carbon content they live for almost ever. Worth the extra money they cost. Started using them on my race car - nothing else would live with the vibration and heat. They worked great -still working! Stop the reacuring leak on my FJ55.

The only gasket I have found that can reseal after a leak forms from bolts that loosen. But, this brings up the only issue I've found with them. The mani. bolts tend to loosen up more requiring more dilegence.

I thought the Remflex instructions clearly state that re-torquing of manifold bolts is NOT required?

They do but in my case it did not turn out that way. They also state some fairly low torque specs. Thus the reason for the original exhaust leak.

I read most of the threads on mud about Remflex before my install and learned that exceeding the 'low' torque specs on the gasket can actually impair performance and possibly cause a leak. Not sure if you went beyond what was specified but if so that could have been the source of your problems.:meh:

I bought gasket from a member of the forum ('iron_giant') and was very satisfied with the gasket, service, and shipping. His website is found here:

Thanks for the link. This is how it went down. Started with a header and (iirc) 15ft*lbs as stated. They leaked right off the bat. Bumped up the torque, still leaked. Finally ended up at 50ft*lbs (iirc) and they sealed. The bolts seemed to loosen several times even after final torque. Fine now. original specs were from the package.

love my Remflex. Cured my intake leak.
