Is there interest in a rear bench seat that mounts ontop of the wheel wells?

this will fit 3 car baby seats...looking into either with seat belts already or with latch already attached.

the seat manufacturer has a smaller seat that is about $145...this would be about 52"-53"...easily fitting 3 people accross the back.

It is not a fold and tumble....but...it does fold foward ontop of the lower seat cushion.

Ah hah....That's why you suggested that I needed a rear bench seat for the girls! :D

:hhmm: ...Yeah, I'd be interested.

I didn't realize it was multiple choice.......I think the set up for a [childs] car seat or two would be a nice option.

Now I need a family cage!

Kid Latches

I would be interested. Kid latches are a must.

Thanks,

Lee

Also interested. 3 Seatbelts would be a must.

Sounds cool! Going to need one in about 7 months!;)

folding, w/seatbelts, and how about some cup holders

But, really seat belts are a must and folding would be a real plus.

Count me in. Kid latches are also a *must*.

I need one now!
I am about to make my own.

YES!! I started the last thread about what to use. I have a newborn and need a SAFE seat for the carseat. VERY INTERESTED. I would like the option to still have my jumps seats mounted, but put up and out of the way. Would a 51' seat fit without be have to take the jump seats out?

Thanks.

I'll have to measure to see if that width would fit between the family cage bars in my 40. I have some seats I'm trying but this may be a better option :)

How is the seat back? Straight up or slightly sloped back? I prefer the latter and the ability to do a 3 pt belt system off of it (for the outer seat positions anyway) would be a bonus.

well that ends that :frown:

just talked to the manufacturer...they will not be able to help us out after all. :crybaby:

The seat would need to go through special testing.

"Seating for personal auto fall under different legal requirements, they differ from our over the road truck seats for 18 wheelers and the attendant seating for the ambulance industry."

got to keep looking :crybaby:

I have a newborn and need a SAFE seat for the carseat.

No seat in a 30yo 4x4 is all that safe. SAFE seats are in modern Mercedes and Volvos. In a cruiser I'd put a kid seat in the front, but it's still not that safe, and certainly not at freeway speeds.

I've got some NOS parts of a Confer storage seat that fits between the wheel wells. I've got the base and the back with no padding, lids or hinges. I've got some mounting legs that I'm not convinced are original. The storage part has one large section under the front pad and a smaller section accessible from the back. All parts are new and powdercoated but have been stored for a while and thus have scratches. It's a good project that didn't quite fit what I wanted to do. $250 for all + shipping.

On Fender Wells

I had thought of putting the seats on the fender wells.

I didn't like the kids sitting up that high.

I wanted them tucked in as low as I could get them.

They are still high enough to seek out Heep's and give them thumb downs and BOOOO's :D

Thanks for looking into this!

I have a Heep seat mounted in the back of mine and it kills me to look back and see it. I have two in car seats and it would sure be nice to have something a little safer. Please let us know if you find out anything. For the Latch system I just had the local shop bend me some of the pre fab triangle tabs and then machine a hole in them. Then I ran a piece of 1/4 plate underneath the tub to bolt the tab to. It works out extremely well!

Hey Johnny, hope you find something, as I would like one as well, with 3-point belts.

What about that company that makes the third row seats in that other thread...little people, or little seats, or something like that...have you contacted them yet?
