Need to sell 1978 FJ40 in Birmingham
Hey all,

I hate to do it but i need to sell my 1978 FJ40. I have owned it for 16 years and my father for 5 years before that. I just dont ever drive it anymore and cant bear to see it going to waste in my driveway and would rather someone else have her that has time to restore and enjoy.

She is the landcruiser olive/tan (rear quarter panel is tan from replacement) with ambulance doors and rear jump seats. I think with a little TLC she could be a great car for someone. Here is the condition as she sits in my driveway:

- Some rust spots along rear ambulance doors
- Roof seals need replacing.
- Needs painting as its been sitting uncovered
- Driver seat needs replacing as it is torn. I have been using a seat cover.
- Dashboard has perpendicular crack in center.
- Last time i drove her (Oct 08) i smelled some fuel so probably needs a fuel line replaced.
- Battery is most likely dead.
- As far as i know or can tell the engine is in good shape as it runs.

Mostly the car just needs some reconditioning from sitting for so long.

I hope to get $3000 or best offer. I will try and dig up some pics to post.

Damn, lemme get in line... I'm in auburn. Let me know if it's still fir sale

no rust spots inside that I know of. All is exterior, along the roof line on the right and left quarter panels and some rust and cracking along the rear door well.

Update. Went out and tried to crank her up expecting dead battery. She fired up after about 30 seconds and I let her idle for 5 minutes. No problems. Man these trucks are awesome. Starting to get sentimental, but still need to sell.

Still Interested!
