John did you come out on Hwy 177 or turn right at the top of the power lines and take the other trail back to Oak Flats?

Definitely a good run but if you didn’t hike up Hackberry Creek you missed out.

In my one trip with Walt we did Hackberry Creek. There is little challange there. We will not do that loop on this run. Instead we're going for difficulty. :)

In my opinion, entering via AZ177 on FH315 and clmibing Apache Leap is one challenge. Next up, the optional 4.0 loop via washout is extreme. That leaves 2 more real challenges before exiting to Oak Flat:
1. The extreme hill shown in the picture that climbs the ridge and drops into the North Tank. This hill can be bypassed by clmibing the Z-turn and turing right into the North Tank.
2. From the North Tank area you have your choice of exits to Oak Flat.
A. Through that difficult Canyon
B. Up the slickrock
The above exits can also be bypassed by staying straight after the Z-turn climb. I'd guess some might bypass the extreme climb though most will enter the North Tank area and exit up of the slickrock. That canyon is TOUGH!

I'm good to go. Do we have a date set yet? :bounce:

i'd like to run this with ya'll, but i'll be doin my part to help mother earth this sat. maybe next time.

Help mother earth. Run the trail. The more that run = the more the chance the trail stays open. :)

dont know about that shottz, maybe the more that rally together and sign petitions for the powers that be to see the interest in the area. runnin the trail will just get you another run in before it closes.
oh and make sure to bring bags and pick up the trash on the trail, otherwise we CSC guys will have to go in and do it to help with keeping it open.

Sorry guys, something came up last minute. Hope to catch the next one.

sorry i missed it john, but fossil springs was worth it. first time i've been that way since they re-did a few things.

no, we cleaned up the greater bridge area, then found a nice area to make camp for the night (those who camped). the water was flowing real well compared to the way it used to.

Cat said the water is "supposed" to be 300% the "normal" flow but she doubts it's that high. Regardless, it was wonderful.
