I'm glad I live where I do.

Are you leaving your gear on the rig all the time, at work, the mall and around town? Or are people actually stealing your stuff when you are in the field?

Mark...

Call leaving your gear on your truck a fashion thing if you like, i prefer to have my rig and my gear in the same place at all times. yeah its dumb when am i going to need a shovel at the store but there are times when you never know? Maybe its snowing out and you head home slide into a ditch and opps your stuck. I like the idea of being prepared at all times, im a gadget freak i guess im the guy that caries a knife with him every were just cause, oh need to open that package you say well here ya go.

Its a new world man go any where and leave your stuff just sitting and someone will take it no matter what neighborhood your in. hell i had my truck broken into a couple years ago while it was in my garage while i was home!! i prefer to lock my stuff.

i prefer to lock my stuff.

hey man i wasnt tryin to start a turf war , but i know what you mean, you will notice in the pic i posted that i have a nice cable around the spare tire and cans secured with a padlock and i almost drilled a hole through the shovel blade, you cant stop them but you can slow'em down.

oh and be prepared? well i have a backup folding shovel inside the rig at all times,,, just in case the other one walks off,, see ya round mike.

h well i have a backup folding shovel inside the rig at all times,

That is what i have, Vietnam era, came in a plastic case with belt loops and stows out of the way in the side compartment in the back with the Jack and tools, when you need a shovel it is a crappy one but much better than your bare hands. I have wound up using it several times, trips that I never would have brought a real shovel.

BTW this is a good vendor, I ordered a two pack on Mon got it on Wed....from PA to CA.

Same thing, ordered a 4 pack and had it at the house within 5 days.

Does anyone know of anyone who sells something quick-fist like made of metal? I've seen them a lot on military vehicles from trucks to cargo aircraft. They are pretty simple, usually just a metal band with a metal hasp that you can clamp the band down on and which often can accomodate a lock through the hasp. While you have to size them correctly for the diameter of the object you are clamping, them seem to offer a little more security in that you can lock them, and also a more strength to the point that they could be used to secure heavier objects like hi-lift jacks.
