@mtbrown619 you have any pictures of Juanita. That’s a great 60 story.

Absolutely. The first photo is Gertrude, my first love. The rest are Juanita.

My 60s story sure has changed since March 2018. I had just started my Cummins 4BT swap. The swap became known as Project Snowball❄ after it seemed one thing just led to another. Thankful I am financially sound and had a dad who allowed me to house the 60 in a shop bay for over a year working on the engine/ transmission swap and then the SOA.

It was during the SOA build that started taking entire weekends that my wife began calling the 60, “The other women”. @boots4 here in Oregon was the brains behind the SOA. He has done several so knew how to do it right. From the beginning he told me don’t expect a weekend and your done. Everything on the SOA was carefully calculated for safety and stability as well as capable Offroad.

Finally Snowball❄ was ready for road tests. What a difference to what the 60 was like before. It felt powerful and burly. Issues with new parts failing from Napa were upsetting but learned to work through them. Eventually started taking longer and longer trips.
I had always wanted a Hardshell Rooftop tent and CVT in Bend, Oregon had them on sale for Black Friday. This would be my longest trip and with all the recent snowfall here in Oregon about 80% would be on snow covered roads. I had not really driven Snowball❄ on winter road conditions and wondered how it would handle.

The 60 did better than expected. Never even used 4WD and with all highway driving got my best fuel mileage I had yet at 21.06 mpg. I didn’t even notice the 150 pound RTT was even up there.
After road trips then snow wheeling began rolling through my mind. Some locals from Cascade Cruisers got together last weekend and decided to have some fun up the Clackamas River. It was a great time to get out and see just how capable this 60 was in the snow.

Project Snowball❄ has been a lot of fun. I’ve work along side some great people and have had huge support here on MUD. There were times of doubt whether I was doing the right thing. I took a beautiful stock 60 and had it in pieces at times but once it started coming together and I was able to drive my 60 again I was overjoyed.
