I'm cross posting this from the Sequoia form because I figured you hundy guys are more likely to know...

I've done quite a bit of googling and have come up empty handed, but does anyone know of a mount for the 2UZ for a York 210?

If no such thing exists, is there any interest? If I have to build one, I might as well make a jig so I can build more.

Is there room in there to mount a York? I'd definitely be interested in a bracket and happy to contribute up front for set up costs if you can find a place on there to mount one. I had a York in my old FJ62 and LOVED IT, the CFM was amazing compared to electric models!

I had a 210 in my 80 and like you, miss it dearly. I have no idea what your engine bays look like, but I have a Sequoia and could probably fit a small child in there with the hood closed. I'm assuming you guys have about the same horizontal and vertical clearance? I've yet to procure a York, but remembering how big it was and looking at my engine bay, I'm initially thinking right hand side similar to where they get mounted on the 1FZ. I know the v rib pulleys are more common but since we have serpentines, I'd be looking at using a six rib clutch. As I type this I'm wondering if the accessory positions and belt routing on the non- VVTi engines are the same as the VVTi... 99% sure they are but I'll have to do some parts number researching to get that last 1%.

I appreciate your enthusiasm and the offer to contribute to up front costs, but I'm just some guy in his garage and I don't want to set expectations until I've got it ironed out. Moreover, I don't want to be financially beholden to anyone and then end up getting my ass sued off like Joey. lol... But again, thank you. It's very kind of you and it reminds me how much more close knit Mud is than anything social media offers.

I'm assuming then that there are no mounts on the market, so I'll move forward with this project and keep you guys in the loop. Even though it's for a Sequoia, I'll keep the build thread here if nobody objects.

It's tough to justify the cost and effort of an OBA York given the availability of high flow electric compressors. You'll need to add an extra pulley, longer serpentine belt or an additional belt, throttle wheel, probably a reserve tank. You have to add oil to the compressor and then a coalescing filter to remove the oil from the output hose.

But if you want to go through with it, the belt/pulley routing is the same with VVT-i and non. All the air intake tubing is a bit in the way on the passenger side of the engine. But this is the routing below. You might be better off mating a V-rib pulley to the P/S pulley (so they are stacked) and retaining the stock serpentine belt and additional V-rib belt. I don't know if the belt configuration will provide enough friction though.

Very true about the cost. I'm currently running an electric setup I threw together about six years ago that automatically airs all four up and down to preset pressures. It takes a while, but it works fine so the York is a gratuitous ego stroke more than anything. I'm mainly exploring this option for me and mainly inquiring about whether there's already a solution out there. I'm not really looking to go into business and chain myself to the welding table but if it works, if there's interest, and if we can all agree on whatever the price would end up being, I'd be willing to booger weld some together on an as-ordered basis. Thanks for the belt routing reference and reminder about the intake! It it ends up getting too goofy with additional belts and jack shafts to move the York back because the intake's in the way, I'll trash the idea. We'll see what happens!

Re: Sanden... those are rotary and thus would need oil fed into them at the inlet if I remember right. The York has its own oil supply in the crank case. I had an oil separator with mine but in four years of use, I only had a very small amount of oil in there. Thanks for the thread, though... I'll dig through that over the next few days to see what he came up with. Also, I didn't realize how old that thread was until I saw the MTRs he had on there. Man, those were some good tires for the time.

I'm still using the Sanden in my 100 but I wouldn't go through that excruciating design exercise today: Just go electric. No oil to add/separate/deal with (kinda), clean air and pretty much plug and play.

Yeah, York's can be the bee's knees but the form factor doesn't work on a 100/?...unless cutting a hole in the hood is your thang.

Having said all that, if you deflate often, 9-10cfm is addicting for sure.
