Hey all puzzled with my heating issues. Here's what's going on;

Any mode on the mode select switch, cold ambient air blows out the two outer face vents, nothing comes out of the center vents (Until you select the face mode)
Foot setting is a little hotter but not the best.

Rear heater is working great.

Here's what I've done

1. Flushed the radiator, an unspeakable amount of times, refilled with Toyota red.
2. Verified the cold/hot settings actuates the Heater Control Valve,
3. Verified the mode selector actuator works, I watched it actuate the arms as I pressed through the modes
4. I looked at the flapper under the glove box, and it doesn't seem to move no matter what selections I've made.
5. When driving the ambient air is much worse coming through the cab.

Thanks guys.

Have you looked in the AC scetion of the FSM?
There's quite a good section on diagnositics.

I posted an excerpt from the 80 series service manual HVAC section, for just these problems. It's in the Resources section. Look for it in the 80 series section. All years work the same way. The LX450 is a little more complicated; LMK if you have a Lexus and not a Land Cruiser.

The problem is likely the blend door operation. The operation explanation is in the manual, along with troubleshooting and repairs.

Its an LX450, with the "auto" Climate control

That presents an extra level of problems, but you can disable that and troubleshoot it much more easily. Download the LX450 service manual from the resources section and the HVAC excerpt from the Land Cruiser section.

That is a ridiculously clean vehicle.

That's all I got.

wow, import a half cut from where, AUS?
