Dang... judging is tough in this place. a 6.5 just because the corners aren't pretty?
Now that it's done I can probably make a template of the front and the front corners. The rest are just level cuts.

I'm just basing the 6.5 on how my wife would react if I showed up with the mod. Maybe you could find some kind of u-channel plastic trim that would clip over the cut edges of the console?

The only thing I would have done differently is to get a can of SEM vinyl color-coat spray to match the grey interior. About $5-$10 and the stuff works great on vinyl. They also have applications for plastic but I think the current black liner would add a nice contrast.

Personally I'd have a hard time giving up the OEM rectangular opening since it's a near perfect fit for my large square Fiji water bottles!
Wouldn't mind adding some cup holders elsewhere in the vehicle tho.

Thanks for the info. I just got my seats recovered this week and the guy is taking some of the extra leather and is going to recover it in Grey. The cupholder will match the Cover on the center console box. The seats look awesome! They are two tone grey and look awesome. I will post some pics once the cupholder is done.

Well here is the finished product. I just got my seats recovered using Aatlas Covers and had some leather left over. So I asked the upholsterer to cover the cupholder also. With the new seat covers and new arm rests it looks pretty nice
I am wondering if you have tried to fit a 12 (or 16) ounce can with a koozie in the cup holders. By the looks of it, the foam, thick koozies would not fit, but the cheap ones that radio stations and the like give away might fit. For me, I can barely get a can with the cheap, skinny koozie in the Toyota cup holder on the driver's elbow. Yours looks real nice, well done

Sorry haven't tried a koozie... What the hell is a koozie?
Looks heaps better in grey. 
You could try to tidy up the cut plastic with either auto trim as suggested above, or just go cheap and use grey coloured silicone.
I need to do something similar, I have a LC pickup and I have no storage at all. Currently resting my drinks between the handbrake and the passenger seat, no so effective when you hit a bump

A koozie is a foam (thick one) or a neoprene (thin one) sleeve which a person can slide his/her can of beer into to keep your hot fingers from warming it up. Granted, when drinking 12 ounce drinks, this usually is not a problem because you drink them fast enough that they don't get warm. The problem is the 16 ounce cans which are the same size around, just taller. I was hoping that the holders were large enough to hold a can with the koozie around it.
