Moved on to drilling frame…Ugh

Drilling the frame was ok till it wasn’t.

3 of the 4 holes have internal welded nuts in the way. FML :bang:

I guess torch is next, I threw in the towel tonight.

I use the "TEMO M35 Cobalt Spiral Flute Step Drill, 13 Size From 1/8 Inch To 1/2 Inch, 1/4 Inch Hex Shank" to get up to 1/2"

Then I use the "TEMO M35 Cobalt Spiral Flute Type Step Drill, 9 Size from 1/4 Inch To 3/4 Inch, 3/8 Inch Shank" for the bigger holes

Way easier especially on an interrupted cut.

Amazon for both.

Got some info on my steering issue, chineesium 80 box has slightly large splines…so just get it tight and move on. At least I know now from someone I trust.

Will be my last day in the office, lunch for the crew and handout Xmas bonus, will be happy for a break.
That's a knock-off box? Or is the shaft a knock-off?

If the holes are a bit oversized you’ll still be fine. You can make the DOM tubings a little long and have the extra coming out on the inside of the frame, giving you some extra material to weld to.

It’s a new box from RA, I gave up trying to find a rebuildable box here.

Yes I bought 2 feet of the DOM so no issue with that, of course the motor is in so limits inner frame rail access with the drill.

Your comment was my thinking, torch the offending spots and weld them shut after šŸ‘šŸ»

Son’s Birthday today so family coming etc, see where the day goes. Cheers guys

Did you just crank/torque it down more or???
I took it apart, hit the sandblasted arm splines with a fine jeweler's file and reassembled with oil on both splines and threads, made a big difference šŸ‘šŸ»

That was Tq to about 90-100 on the bench, will get it to 130 once it’s mounted.

@Ol Yeller she gonna be road worthy by mid June? That’s when I should be passing thru your area. Guessing late second week to early third week of June.
Well I’m pushing for on the road this coming year, kinda depends what life hands me.

Even if it’s not it would be great to see you on the way through, we are quite near the main highway here in the valley.

Did not get it welded out tonight, I bench welded the sleeves to be sure of the 1/4ā€ protrusion but then had a hell of a time getting the plate back on the frame.

Shoulda just one timed it I guess. šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

Anyways it’s all fit and square now, so next time out I’ll drag the welder over and get it done.
