wtf? oil capacity (1 Viewer)

howdy everyone. i just did an oil change last night, and decided to follow the toyota owners manual capacity recomendation of 7.4L, then when I check the dipstick this morning before turning on the truck, it is way,WAY overfilled. And I am using the older big filter, if that makes any difference...

folow the owners manual and check the oil level again a few minutes after shutdown, the oil filter drains overnight showign a false high reading.

If you mean..

#15600-41010, as larger and older filter then it is 8 quarts.

thx for the replies...yes it is the older filter, so i figured if anything i would read low...i didnt know it would drain overnight like that. btw i searched oil capacity, too much oil , and found nothin so thanks fer yer patience.

Just checking...have you started the truck afterwards? (so that at least the filter is filled)

yeah i started it last night ahter the change and then let it sit ten min or so before checking, and all was well, guess i should have included that on he initial thread. now that i look at all the evidence i feel
