I have a mortar mixer. does not work very well for concrete. I do the shovel and wheelbarrow method.

Need front driver's side spindle/knuckle for my 80 if anyone has a spare. Tore into my axle tonight and the bearing disintegrated and tore it up pretty good.

Hey Mike, check the Craigslist thread. There's an 80 salvage at one of the local lots.

mikeMike,

Yep, Jess just texted me about that...good call!

Anyone that upgraded to the amsteel cable, I am needing some steel cable for a project at the house, anyone have used old spool of steel line?

Also, anyone that got the amsteel line not want it anymore??? I got a winch for the new supercharged 80 (trying out the nickname "boost") that I could steal the steel line out of it if anyone has the amsteel line.

I called that yard this morning and apparently that 93 80 series is one of the few non ABS models with rear drums, so the axle parts wouldn't work for me (no ABS ring on the outer birfs).

Also found out over the weekend that after April 1994, Toyota lengthened the hub and outer birfields about 3/16". Think most of you are running model years later than 94, so when searching for used parts, just know that the birfs out of an 80 series earlier than 94 will not work (too short). I think I have the longer hub replacement to go with the longer birf I got for replacement (thanks Kelly!), so I should be good.

Front axle rebuild saga continues this evening! :bang:

***Correction: outer drive flanges (not hubs) were lengthened. Section with the splines lengthened to match the longer splines on the updated birfs***

Anyone deal with shipping containers, have contacts that sell them or have general guidance on them? I am looking to buy a 8'w x 40'L x 9.5' high for storage at the hacienda. Thanks!

I work in transportation, but don't have a good contact for purchasing connex's in this area.

My advice though would be to buy one that is in the KC area. With the major rail terminals here, there are quite a few companies that will sell them locally. A quick search (very quick) puts the local price range around the mid $2k area. Local sellers will most likely have access to the drayage trucks and will be able to deliver easily.

You can probably find cheaper containers in other areas (in the $1500-$1800 range), but transporting them would be costly (full truckload rate of somewhere around $2 per mile to get it delivered.

Thanks! I have been doing some more research and getting nervous about drainage, heat, cost, etc. I think I just need to get this garage I am saving for built!

We've bought 20 to 30 over the last decade from a company called Container Providers. It has been awhile since our last purchase, but I recall they'd sent out a list of what was available at each facility. They'll load on your truck. The ones we purchased looked like they had been used for one shipment.

Good info guys - really appreciate it!

jenn knows someone here local as well.. helped a buddy buy one

I am NOW looking for a SHORTER front shackle for my '85 4runner. Final step in getting this thing lowered for the 33's.

I thought stock would work, but seeing a lot info saying it will rub with a 2.5" lift.

Current shackle is 5" from eye to eye.

pretty sure that there is one on the 4runner frame that is down by my pond. It is Sage's frame, so you will owe him half of a beer if you are able to get it off.
