Since I just finished begging in the 55 section I figured WTH, I'll go beg in the 45 section, too!

I'm hopefully finishing my insane FJ45LV resto soon. The only original item(s) I have not been able to source is a set of original rubber floor mats/ floor covering. Honestly I've never even seen as much as a photo of these things, do they exist?

It goes without saying that I will pay stupid insane money for a set in excellent condition. After all, why stop now? I'm gunning for a perfect, as delivered, 100% correct and all OE part FJ45LV. Like I said, insane, but....same logic as guys who climb Mt Everest. Because its there!

Anybody have anything?? Heck, even some photos would be much appreciated- maybe I can have a set made. Please don't make me use carpet :)

Help! Email: comer.colin@gmail.com

Thanks!
Colin

Hey Colin,

I don't have any mats, but I would think by now anything you could get would be used and abused pretty bad, and not suitable for a nice restoration.

However, for the sake of originality, I can probably scrape off some early 1960s dirt from one of my trucks that you could fling into yours to help make it "period-correct." !

Do let us know.

Colin,
I think your best bet is going to be reproduce your own. You can still source the material similar to the original here : http://www.americanfloormats.com/pyramid-runner-mats/

I have seen a couple of original mats, but they all have been in unrestorable shape. One came with my '63 LV but it is only really good for making a pattern at best.

Also I believe early mats where white, and later black. Good Luck in your search and post some pics of your resto!!

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the info. I was trying to avoid having mats made, but, if it comes to that I'd at least like some photos of what they SHOULD look like so I can try to make them spot-on. I do think my truck came with white mats originally, I found some remnants of that in the rig upon tear down.

I'd even buy a ratty set of mats just to use as a pattern. Yes, I'm desperate.

The hard part will be trying to heat form new material to lay properly over the front floor area.

Here's a link to some resto photos I put on my website:

I haven't updated them in a while, truck is a lot further along now and getting closer by the year ;) I know it isn't everybody's cup of tea to restore them like this but I was so disappointed by the one Toyota had restored in CA and used for display that I thought SOMEBODY should do one to look exactly as it would have when new. And don't despair, I do have my ratty FJ40 to actualy use so I haven't forgotten what FJs are really for!

Any tips, leads, help greatly appreciated. And I will gladly give a finder's fee for assistance that leads to an OE mat I can clean up and use.

Thanks again,
Colin

Beautiful resto.!!!! I had previously stumbled across those pics before while surfing google and was very impressed

I have a front floor mat, and I could get some dimensions for you. I don't think the mat would be to hard to reproduce as the mat wasn't "formed" to fit over things like the trans hump, rather it was cut into seperate pieces and seamed together. So you wouldn't have to do any heat forming.

If you are interested in pics and dimensions shoot me a PM and I will do what I can to help out

Absolutely incredible restoration. I'm stunned at the accuracy and detail of it's original equipment. Bravo. Good luck with the floor mats. I wish I could help.

Simply beautiful - saying more would distract from the bad-ass awesomeness that this vehicle is -now.
