Damn these things are hard to find, especially around KS. I finally talked my wife into a 100 series Land Cruiser or LX470 and sold her minivan, now I can't find one. Now my FJ80 is her DD, which I'm not too fond of.

Price range is $12k or less, mileage 150k or less, very clean, no rust, no smoking, very good exterior cosmetics, rear A/C is the only option I require. No major mechanical needs, maintenance history is a big plus. I don't expect perfect, just a nice clean well-maintained 100. Willing to travel anywhere outside of the rust-belt states, cash in hand and ready to buy. Any leads please let me know, thanks!

go to autotrader.com and set up a search for specific years. I found mine that way after nearly a month...and a few test drives of others. I wanted 2000+ because of having 4 pinions...but wanted to stay below the 2002 year to save money. My limit was $16,000...but think for your price you will need to stick with 1998-1999 100s. I ended up getting LX470, 130k miles, all maintenance and service, receipts, new tires and brakes/rotors, non smoking, exceptional condition for $15,750...most were a thousand more for Land Cruisers..just lucked into private sale and he already bought his wife a 2006 so he needed to move it out the driveway. LOL

Good luck.

I just posted a CL find in the for sale section. No affiliation, but it appears to be pretty decent for $11,500.

I'm searching all the usual suspects - Craigslist, Autotrader, Cars.com, Ebay, and Mud. Just not a lot out there.

Lcwannabee, I'll check that out.

Basically looking for the same thing..I'll let you know if I find anything as well. Would anyone happen to know someone in the market for a BMW 5'er would they?

Throwing a feeler out there for a 2000 LC, 127k miles

The following work has been done since 85k:

18" take off's from a 2008 Tundra TRD with decent 275/70 BFG's Bilsteins all around
New starter
New belts (timing, serpentine)
New alternator and battery
Almost all new emissions (all 4 O2's, 1 cat, crossover pipe)
Borla Cat-back
Roof repainted (bad windshield job had to be repaired)
all fluids changed including tranny, t-case, diffs)
Mobil 1 for last 40k miles
I have rotors, pads and lines to do the brakes, but they don't need it quite yet.
No check engine lights. Outside thermometer and power antenae do not work.

Interior is very good, no rips/cracks in leather, otherwise nothing that a good detailing couldn't remove.

Exterior is mixed. Sheetmetal is almost perfect, no door dings but a couple very minor scratches. The bumpers both need painting, no damage other than some large scratches. The factory side steps are getting tired, but not damaged.

My plan was to paint the bumpers and put on some Slee sliders and more or less be done with it. However I just bought a 4,000lb boat and despite the factory rating that is a lot to pull with a FZJ100. So I'm thinking about going back to a large diesel.

$15k.

Sorry Kane, but for $15k I would want fewer miles and pretty mint condition out of a 2000.

Fair enough, but it's very unlikely you will find one with all the maintenance and typical needed replacements for a 10 year old vehicle done. People sell cars with 90-100k miles to avoid the 90k service which if you hit just the basics, runs about $2k. Add bilsteins, starter, alternator, exhaust, O2 sensors etc. and you're looking at another $2k.

I'll put it another way, if you find one for the price you want and the mileage you want, I suggest you sock away at least $3k for the repairs you're going to make that you likely don't know about yet. While the FZJ100's are very well built rugged vehicles they are not low maintenance vehicles. Search this site for things like: starter contacts, shocks, O2 sensors, timing belt change, etc.

If I had known about all that I don't know if I would have bought it, and trust me, it sure looked cherry when we bought it.

I'll be selling my one-owner 2006 LC with that just turned 40k miles in 5 weeks when my next car arrives. Located in Kansas City, but mid $30's...

Kane, I'm used to catching used vehicles up on maintenance so that's no shock. I can DIY the mechanical stuff, but not the bodywork.

I am selling my '00 LX470. Has 129k all service has been done at Stevinson Lexus in Denver. Body is in great condition, pearl white. Leather great shape no rips or holes. Had AHC fluid refilled, transmission, brake and power steering flushed 5k miles ago. Michelin tires have 12k on them. Needs some brake work done. PM for more details and pics. Asking 14k.
