Had IPOR install the ARB drawer system and fit kit in my 1991 FJ80. Is it me or does this thing look a bit off? Seems to be far too much space between the kit and the interior panels. I suspect they have received and installed the wrong kit. If so, then what is this kit for? Is the FZJ80 interior slightly more narrow? Anyone have an idea?

Not sure on the kit, but if installed by IPOR why not ask them?

It doesn't fit as tightly as others I have seen. AFAIK the drawers are just modular kits and really it's the trim kit that finishes the look. Possibly they installed the wrong vehicles fit kit, IDK?
Check out this thread to see pictures of another set up in an 80, it really looks like a snug fit.

Good luck, they're not cheap, so I would want it to fit correctly.

Of course I have sent Cam an email but they are currently closed. Obviously if it is the wrong kit one would hope they didn't realize it because to intentionally install the wrong part would be egregious.

I thought I would gain the collective insights of this august body and someone would educate me as to why this thing doesn't seem to fit as well as everyone else's.

No assumptions and I know the team at IPOR well. If they made a mistake they will make it right. That's not really my point. I was interested to know two things: 1) is it the wrong fit kit? 2) if it is the wrong one which fit kit did I get? Particularly interesting to know if the interior dimensions of the FJ80 are different from the FZJ80. Seems there is consensus on this being the wrong kit. Anyone care to answer the question re FZJ80 vs FJ80?

It may be the FJ60 model. Is a 60 narrower than a 80?

I pulled the outback roller drawers out of my FJ62 and put them in my FJZ80. They are SHORTER and WIDER than the cargo area in an FJZ80. I have a gap between the rear tailgate and the roller drawers (handy for stashing the caravan jockey wheel), but I had to narrow the trims to suit the 80's narrower cargo bay. Yours look far to skinny to suit an 80, let alone the wider 60.

Good luck.

They definitely look different than mine. Mine is a FZJ, but the length of your kit also seems longer than the drawers themselves, which is not right. My fit was very tight on all sides.

I am sure that IPOR will help sort this out.

Looking at it from the pic angle, it looks like the sides are about 5 inches longer than the drawers.

Not right in my book... :hhmm:

and is that an open gap between the drawers?

To me it looks like the right fit kit but maybe the wrong width and length drawers comparing the OP's picture to the picture in post #10.

bmwjnky has the right answer. It turns out the drawers are the wrong size; too short and too narrow. IPOR sorting this out for me as expected.

Glad you got it sorted out. I'm looking to do this setup next summer now that I have a commuter car with a bike rack I don't need the interior height for my mountain bike in the cruiser anymore.

I am glad they are sorting it out for you. They never sorted anything out for me. The bigger question is why do places let things like this even go out of their shops...if they pay any attention to the product they sell, they know it is not right. Virginia has been the worst place I have ever experienced for this type of happenings. Granted it is at the end of my list of experiences, and maybe tings are getting worse everyehre with time. I was myself a small business owner in Virginia and could not wait to get out. Nowadays if I can't do it myself it just does not get done.

That looks like a sweet set up. How is the height of the back seat compared to the drawers when the seats are folded down? Would it be possible to post a pic too?

At the drawers the seat is about 2.5" below level, and easily "fixed" by using some foam, or a blanket. Decent emergency sleeping platform.

FYI, I seem to recall one 'MUD member making some wood blocks of the proper thickness to put under the rear mounts of the second row seats so that they would sit level with their drawer system.
