Hey guys-anyone have a few hrs Wed or Thurs evening to help me put my manifold and header back on? I was hoping to do this myself but I have managed to injure my wrist and can't hold a darn thing, let alone torque a bolt. I live near dt Raleigh and will of course have food and beer. :) Shouldn't be too long of a job. Weather and part arrival pending of course but hopefully all should be here by then. Thanks!!

Ya got two wrists don't ya ;)

If you lived closer i'd be there :grinpimp:

Change in plans...the shop can't do what I needed so hopefully tomorrow I can take the new (old) stock manifolds and have them re-surfaced. Once I can get that done, I'll be ready for some help so as of right now, timing TBD. No cruiser=one unhappy owner. :(

What can they not do. There is more than one way to skin a cat .

I took the stock intake manifold and header so they could machine the manifold to match the header width. When they are bolted on they do not match and someone tried to double gasket but I still have a leak. They said they cannot machine them as they don't bolt together. When you really start to look at the header though it is so rusted and has those holes (you saw this when I brought the 40 down). SO, I bought a stock intake/exhaust manifold and am hoping they can re-surface that when I take it today. If they don't have a big enough sander, I may need the name of your guy, Darin. Don't you have this setup on your 40? What down pipe did you use?

I use stock exhaust. I would take it to an exhaust shop once you get everything together and let them put a pipe going from your new to old exhaust. Any good machine shop will have that size planner as they need it for heads and blocks.

I took off that header so do I need to at least buy a stock flange or should they have that?

The machine shop is good to go...they are doing it for me today!

Thank you dear god....

HE'S ALIVE! After almost a month, I finally got to start up Pappy today and cannot express my excitement to hear that engine roar to life....and right away at that-no hesitation at all. A GIANT thank you to Darin for suggesting this before I got the carb rebuilt and to Johnny and John Stumbaugh for their hours of help and advice. I could not have done this without you guys. Big thanks to Johnny too for his manual labor on a super dark, freezing Wednesday this week-and for your awesome metal fab skills. :D Waiting on a down pipe then he will be ready to drive again. A month is just too long without my old guy. And FYI-anyone who wants to switch out the FJ40 manifolds for the FJ60, let me know and I'll give you a list of advice and parts to save you a heck of a lot of time. Haha.
