Wrecked my LX470 :(

I agree, but it depends on the value they assign. If they value it at 8k, then total for sure. If they value it at 12k, not so much. Anytime the estimate looks like 50% or more of the vehicle's assessed value you run the risk of the company declaring it a total loss. What I don't know is that if they declare it totaled with a value of 8k and then you successfully fight them on the value and they subsequently assign the value to 12k, will they reassess the decision to declare it a total loss? Any insurance folks care to chime in?

No airbag deployments, so I think you will be okay.

When you buy them, let me know. I just went down this rabbit hole without success. And that fender doesn't have the cladding on it; and there is no practical way to remove the cladding once installed, without damaging it. And the headlight assembly doesn't include the turn signal, which is what is missing.

Concerning my aftermarket headlights I let the adjuster know they're not more than $250 for the pair which will save a few dollars on the estimate.

Doesn't appear to be NLA? Looks like fender cladding was undamaged.

My rig was rear ended in December. Hit on the highway by a Highlander traveling about 50mph. Fortunately, the hitch took the brunt of the impact. Highlander was destroyed. Still, the 100 needed a new rear bumper and spare tire carrier. The insurance adjuster's part prices were much higher than I could get buying online like I've posted above. In the end, Liberty Mutual just cut me a check and I purchased the parts myself and had my local body shop do the work.

Adjuster just called and is telling me he is thinking that it will be repairable. It all depends what the auto body says now after thorough inspection. Tow truck should be getting here any minute now.

There she goes...

I'm collecting BAT Auction results just in case mine gets in an accident.

Both BAT and Cars&Bids are good sources. In California, 01 LX470 with 280k miles very good condition & nice wheels sells well above $15k. Actually almost any LC/LX in not-too-terrible condition non-Salvage title would sell above $15k here. We ran out of 80 series to buy, and now 100 series are the 80s' closest sibling off-road 😂
People love them here, but usually hoard them in their garages due to $5/gallon gas price...

Whatever you do dont take the first offer. Its their job to give you as little as possible. If they total it they should give you a check for the value plus the option to buy it as is and rebuild it as a salvage title. I did that with a motorcycle once. I paid it off and bought it back for $900 and still had money left to fix it.

Will probably know tomorrow. Arrived at the shop right before closing hours today.
Are they going to fix it at that estimate or total it? If they're going to fix it, that high estimate could work in your favor. Good luck, let us know what happens.

So far they are telling me it will be fixed. If the shop finds extensive hidden damage than who knows.
I gave them receipts for the engine I just had installed and that will be taken into account if needed. Says it has not gotten to that point yet.

That's great. If the frame isn't bent, I'd tell the insurance co. to send me the check for $6700. Order an ARB, new fender, bumper trim, headlight, corner lamp, and tie rod and find a shop you trust to do the paintwork. You should come out well ahead.

That is the plan. I just got off the phone with the local ARB dealer. It is in stock. $2045 out the door including install for the Sahara. They said they could also fix my Tie rod and have it aligned.
Also the collision center is going to charge me $810 if I decide not to fix it with them.

General speaking, are the auto collision centers/body repair shops (say the ones with very high review scores on Google/Yelp) capable of making things right for the Hundys? Usually they offer much better deals and are much more convenient (avoid flat towing from place to place, scheduling, delay etc.) if both the body+mechanic works are done by the same bodyshop. I know for a Honda Civic or Rav4 I wouldn't care. But are Hundys mechanically special enough and skill-demanding enough to warrant going through the trouble and paying extra to do body and mechanical recovery separately?
Thanks for any insight.
